Xia Xiyou River View Inn (Chongqing Jiefangbei Chaotianmen)

Nice set of apartments in very high building. I recommend lower floor due to slow elevators. Good location for transport to train or airport. Very nice host. Building and apartment a bit old, but price reflect it. Not easy to find

I recently stayed at a hotel in Chongqing that offered a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location was excellent—situated conveniently near major transport links, restaurants, and attractions like Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave. It made exploring the city incredibly easy, and the surrounding area felt vibrant and safe, even at night. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and nicely decorated. The rooms were comfortable, with good amenities and a great view of the city skyline. It had all the potential to be a fantastic stay. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Staff at the front desk were unhelpful and seemed disinterested in assisting guests. Check-in was slow and disorganized, and requests for basic information or help (such as directions or help booking a taxi) were often met with vague responses or ignored altogether. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and I had to call multiple times to get extra towels. Overall, while the hotel scores high on location and comfort, the poor service significantly detracted from the experience. With improved staff training and better customer service, it could easily become one of the better places to stay in Chongqing. For now, I’d only recommend it to travelers who prioritize location over hospitality.
