"This could be a 5* thing, for now it feels more like 4 to 4.5 * for me. Let me explain.
First of all, there are many really big upsides for the Nirwana Resort:
- The hotel is in a wonderful location. The beach directly in front of the hotel is beautiful, however if you explore a little further, the beach right next (connected to some rentable mini-houses) is also part of the Nirwana area and even cleaner and more inviting for a direct swim.
- The room was even nicer than anticipated via the photos. Everything was tastefully designed, clean and room-service did a great job daily. The hotel itself is abut 35 years old, very close to the sea and constantly exposed to salty winds. It's just amazing that they managed to maintain the open-corridors in such a great condition. There's a lot of wooden features (which look really good imho).
- The staff is friendly and helpful. You will find plenty of activities if that is your thing.
Now to the kinda neutral part: Some of the in-hotel facilities were not available during our stay. For example to get to the gym you had to switch to another building a few hundret meters away. You still get everything you need, so it's not really a complaint - more a thing of convenience but since all the surrounding area is pretty nice I would recommend exploring a bit anyway.
The two main negative factors were:
- It's a very secluded resort and there is no normal supermarket or anything similar nearby for basic daily needs like water or what-have-you. This means you will need to pay mega-premiums. 1 L of water costs over 100k Rupias or about 7 to 8 USD. A small bottle of coke is about $3.5. Same goes for all other snacks, drinks and foods. They are very overpriced, just because you don't have a choice. Another example: A pizza + a ”gourmet” burger were close to $50. I wouldn't even complain if it was really ”gourmet”. However not even close: You can eat both, it's not terrible but it's very basic, the pizza too dry and kinda small, the burger the most boring I had in years and not great beef at all.
Same goes for all the other food we had in the in-house restaurant. It's not bad but every dish feels like something is a bit off or missing or just very basic. Especially for the premium price you pay this seems not right.
There are two more restaurants within ~1km walking distance: An indian restaurant. Pricing is on the higher side but more reasonable than the indoor restaurant. Tandoori chicken was over-spiced (not hot just too strong taste with nothing to compliment it) and very dry/boring. The infamous butter chicken was great, though. I would recommend the ”Spicy restaurant” (4 stars) but make sure you get something with sauce.
And then there is a seafood restaurant. It's really pricy (especially when compared to seafood in Batam for example) but you get an incredible fresh and well seasoned fish/crab/prawn selection that makes it worth 100% to visit. Also the view is fantastic.
I actually would rate this whole experience 5 stars - if you would get the basics (water, coke, some smaller snacks) for a fair price; right now this part feels a bit like a rip-off.
Also, local taxi service is a bit over-priced, same goes for activities. I really don't mind spending more, but there needs to be a balance where you don't feel taken advantage of.
If you don't care about that, I would fully recommend the stay at Nirwana Hotel."
"We had a lovely trip with the family over holidays in Oct 2024. We were upgraded to a pool villa and used the pool to splash around and have nice family time. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean. Service is great. The food in the restaurants was good but a bit on the expensive side. Overall an enjoyable trip! :)"
"Awesome hotel, that is, Ctrip has to contact the hotel through the agent, can not communicate directly, not too convenient. The hotel is right by the sea and you can watch the sunset. The hotel's restaurant is better than any restaurant on the island! I ate three dinners this time, and I didn't step on thunder when I blinded a lot of dishes!
The disadvantage is that the electric water heater is used, and the water will be cold after a long bath time. In addition, the hotel does not provide toothpaste and toothbrushes, and there is no renewal of cleaning for two days."

"It was very nice. The location is about 45 minutes from the ferry port but that means it is quiet and relaxing which is exactly what we wanted. The staff were friendly and attentive. We tried as much as we could from the menu and it was all great. The crêpes for breakfast were especially good."
"Biru is the villa area of Nawan Garden. The environment is very good. The waiter sent us to the door of the room with great enthusiasm. The single bed in the bedroom is a bit small and can only sleep one adult. If there are many people, you can put the two single beds together. The bathroom is a bit simplistic, if you need a comb toothbrush you can call. The overall feeling in Bintan is that people are very good. Even if the communication is not too smooth, they will not bother to explain. My request is to know one or two keywords. The only regret is that I saw a mini zoo in Nawan, I wanted to take the children to the waiter and told me that I was gone."
"Everything was great but please learn to delivery ”no” message to your customer instead of stalling tactic.
We requested for early checkin as the ferry disembarked at close to 12pm. The concierge told us it was subjected to availability. They will try to clean up room quickly. We waited close to 3hrs, 15mins before official check in time to get the room.
But we noticed neighboring units were empty.. and due to low occupancy, the breakfast was ala-carte instead of buffet."

"This star hotel is very new, the food in the restaurant is delicious and cheap, and the boss is very warm and welcoming!
Close to the beach, you can go to the beach to catch the sea, and the coconut trees are very beautiful.
There are umbrellas at the door of the room and ice-cold drinks in the small refrigerator. It's a great experience."

Outstanding
MMs Foo and Ms JiangWe were very pleased with our experience at The Sanchaya! Greg and his staff were so hospitable we felt comfortable and at ease from the moment we arrived at the Ferry Terminal.
The service and facilities were excellent..from the room service to the dining areas. Movie Choices were so updated and wide. Good quality toiletries and snacks in the room minibar
We had a little miscommunication about a service fee and were so grateful that they patiently hear us out and resolved it quickly.
Thank you Greg, Nawa, Madon, Wawan, Vivi and all the staff at The Sanchaya for a memorable stay!

Great
GGuest UserThere are several blocks in the resort and we were assigned a room in the block closest to the pool/beach so we had a really good view! Note that there’s no lift in this block since there’s only 2 floors.
Environment and room are very comfortable. All staff are very nice and friendly too. We went for the tanjak souvenir making class and it was fun!
Some downsides:
•A lot of houseflies and mosquitoes especially after it rains.
•Some dishes with chicken or beef, the meat can be a bit tough. But there’s enough variety to choose from😊

SStephanie Ann KesslerStayed at The Residence over 3 day.l Staff attitude was good all round - everyone took ownership of their respective roles from the concierge through to Front Desk. Despite the distance from the ferry terminal if you come by BBT, The Residence is self-sufficient w activities for adults and kids. It's tranquil and a blissful sanctuary for a restful break. You could also arrange excursions through the hotel. Rainy season is from Oct to April. Check out activities thru WhatsApp comms. Take the provided bicycle or just walk through the farm and ask the staff there about feeding chickens, rabbits and Tilapia. Or understand the role of the farm in relation to the restaurants. Nothing is perfect but you'll definitely be won over by the earnestness of the staff.
AAnonymous UserOverall, we had an enjoyable stay at Holiday Inn Resort Bintan. Cleanliness was generally good, although the floor was still a little dusty. One small inconvenience was the lack of hooks in the toilet to hang towels, and the pillows were too soft for our liking—made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. For a 5-star resort, the complimentary toiletries were minimal (only toothbrush and toothpaste provided), and there was no iron or bathrobe in the room, although an iron and board can be requested.
The resort is not located near food outlets, so transport is needed if you want to explore outside. That said, the in-room dining exceeded our expectations—the steak is a must-try, absolutely superb! The resort also offers many facilities, which kept us occupied throughout our stay.
Big shout-out to the resort crew—they were incredibly helpful and responsive, even assisting with printing our boarding pass and explaining the complimentary land transfer. One area that could be improved is the ferry bus arrangement. It got quite crowded during boarding and we didn’t realize a second bus was coming, so our group got split up unnecessarily. It would be helpful if a staff member could assist in organizing guests.
Despite the few areas for improvement, we definitely plan to return. The hospitality and facilities made it a memorable stay!

DDaya MuslimExcellent service from all the team there no matter the department.. Excellent if you're looking for a very private, relaxing getaway. Stayed for 2 days, 1 night. They're kind enough to let us have an early check-in and late checkout at 5 pm with a small top-up, which I felt was fair.We enjoyed ourselves just being in the villa.
The toilet has a slight drainage smell, which can be quite overpowering at certain times, but no problem, we just closed the door when not in use. A cockroach came to visit us in the toilet at night, but it's understandable as it has an open concept toilet.
Food prices, in my opinion, are at a very high side, even for a resort. The breakfast buffet was good even though I saw a few unfavourable comments here.
The only thing that I felt was a downside for our trip is the food prices. Sure, you can have a choice of venturing out to get food, but sometimes you just want to be indoors in the beautiful villa

JJLLWongA Nice ambience relaxed resort. Room looks exactly like the posted photos. Got a small kitchen. Quiet on weekdays. Shower water pressure is strong and service crews are warmth and friendly. Arrival pickup and drop off saves a lot of hassle. Far from city. If you have a few days in Bintan, you can book a private one day tour which will bring you to various sightseeing spots. Guests from Cassia can use swimming pool and spa facilities at Angsana resort.
Breakfast at Angsana Resort - Lotus, quite a good spread. Lunch at Vista within it's own premise - fried kway teow is delicious and dinner at Xana, western grill meat and seafood near beach - Pizza and Lamb chop is great (if served on hotplate will be perfect cause food went cold pretty fast 😅).
Cassia has also some activities set each day, guests can sign up with friendly front desk. Next to the swimming pool, there is a game corner, for playing chess and snooker. Also a turtle pool not far away, children will be delighted to see turtles swimming. Great place to stay for a few days.

AAilyajFirst time to Anmon and it was lovely. Was told by the staff that it’s usually packed and crowded on the weekend. I went on a weekday and it was quiet and nice. There are buggy ride services everywhere and they are always ready to pick you anywhere you want to go. They have a seamless chat system where you can let them know what you need, and they’ll send it to your room. Lovely stay!

GGuest UserThe entire stay was amazing. It was visible that employees were struggling to communicate to us in English but you can also see that they are determined to relay the necessary information with manners and patience which I really appreciated. Some things to really appreciate is that they had prepare birthday decorations upon request which where are really cute and the restaurant aswell which was the best. I would like to thank Dini, Leni , Icha, Tila and Indra as they really went over the top for the celebration at The El lagoi beach club please do reward them with a recognition if you could as the service was top notch.
Some things to note however the aircon in our room was really hot it was at a temperature of 26 degrees and we called the reception about it and someone had come to repair it note that this was at 12am midnight. I appreciate the prompt action but however after trying to fix it the whole night the temperature remained the same. I would prefer the course of action to be changed for this situations like giving an upgrade of the room or changing to the exact type of room.
For the cleanliness it was all okay except that the cabana was fully soaked for the 2nd and 3rd day as it was raining. We chose this room specifically for the cabana and we weren’t able to utilise it. Most importantly is that there was a cockroach in the bathroom.

VVincent GiangI had a great two-night stay at Alltrue. The staff were friendly though not of them can speak English. The location was peaceful, and the room was spacious and clean. Facilities like the spa, gym, and sauna were excellent, and the buffet breakfast had plenty of delicious options. Highly recommended!
