"It was okay to stay. The room was a standard Japanese room. There was a light breakfast of boiled eggs, bread, coffee... and I didn't think there would be a shocking incident. A little after midnight, a drunk person tried to open the room door. Luckily, I called the lobby and a staff member told me to come and take care of it. Everything was fine, but I shouldn't have been this lax with the system..."
"It definitely feels like a five-star hotel, very comfortable, and highly recommended. However, it is only suitable for self-driving. It is very dark nearby at night, so be careful when driving. The surrounding natural environment is comfortable, but of course not that convenient."

"Cozy family hotel, it’s super quiet when I live in. During the whole stay, only one of us has a family bath and 5 pools casually, watching the snow fall on my shoulders quietly, life is happy! It is very suitable for children. Breakfast and dinner are very supportive. It is close to Shinhotaka and the ski resort, and it is quieter than Hirayu."
"The most expensive but the worst hotel among the 8 hotels in this trip!
The hotel is positioned as an Internet celebrity hotel in my heart! Very beautiful to take pictures!
But the hotel has flaws: the public hot spring is too small and you can't take a bath, the room is too cold, and the air conditioner doesn't work! The shower area in the room is also very cold!
The food was average, but the key was that the ventilation during the barbecue for dinner was not good and the smell of oily smoke was all over the place!
The service is very good from check-in to other times. The key is that after check-out, no one cares about getting to the station. If the weather is good, it is not a big problem and the distance is not far. But on snowy days, it is too hard to push a big box with ice and snow on the road!
It was really beautiful to take a lot of photos. If you don’t have high requirements for hot springs and like to take beautiful photos, it’s still great!"

"The location is excellent, very close to the JR station and Jinya. It snowed heavily, and the door was full of snow, so you can have a snowball fight at any time. It is suitable for family stays, and the room is large."
"This guesthouse is clean and conveniently located near the JR station. The owner is incredibly friendly and provides helpful information for exploring the town. It’s the first place I’ve stayed where they even carried guests’ luggage, which was a thoughtful touch. A warm and welcoming experience overall!"
"This is a homestay without a front desk. Normally, there will be an email to inform me of the room number and check-in password before check-in, but Ctrip did not notify me of these, and did not receive an email. After the check-in time, I had to go directly to the homestay. Fortunately, I met someone else who was staying and told me the landlord’s contact information, and also contacted the landlord and successfully checked in.
The location of the homestay is very good, it is convenient to go anywhere, it is easy to find, clean, we booked a quadruple room with four single beds, the comparison is also very high, and you can cook in the homestay, we bought the local famous moth cow to eat satisfied, it is worth staying again!"

Amazing
MMike IgWe really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Takayama. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed — a great balance of practicality and coziness. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the experience even better.
The hotel had some standout touches that made it feel special: free chazuke (rice with broth) served every evening, a relaxing onsen and sauna available to all guests, and even free popsicles after your bath — small but thoughtful details that made a big difference.
The location is also excellent, just a short walk from the bus/train terminal and the city center. Overall, a very pleasant stay and a place we’d happily come back to.
AAnonymous UserArrived at 12pm and room was ready to check in. But too bad i had to eat lunch and travel around first before checking in so i couldnt enjoy the early check in. Take note no car park onsite, and have to park at the public carparks. But overall the room was well renovated, clean, cosy bed was comfortable and worth the price. Staff was friendly too
11509Hotel is right beside the Highway/Local Bus Station & Takayama Train Station. Most attractions are within walking distance. The hotel room is spacious, it has a kitchen with the essential appliances, medium size fridge (not those small bar fridge in most hotels), microwave oven, electric cooker, washing machine with dryer. Their check-out time at 11am compared to 10am check-out required by most hotels in Japan.
Highly recommended to stay here when visiting Takayama, especially when travellers using Takayama as a base to explore Shirakawa-go, Tayoma, Narai-Juru, etc.
GGuest UserStayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.
RResipaIt is exactly next to JR station and bus station. Very convenience. The room is huge, and there is a washing machine and microwave in the room.
They implemented the exo-friendly concept, so housekeeping is limited, and amenities provided in the lobby that you can take as per your needs.
AAlexwAbsolute gem in Takayama. It was an impulse last min booking hence we arrived and check in late but got a good deal.
We were upgraded to the suite room which is a total surprise. Room was huge! There's living hall on one side, and bedroom on another side.
There aren't many tall buildings in Takayama. Hence, we can look out the window for the whole town scenery. Surrounded by mountain and snowing in the morning, such a lovely stay.
Hotel has public thermal pool on the ground floor free for guests. Breakfast was sufficient but can be long queue.
Overall, it's a good short stay at a lovely hotel.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything.
When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.
雲雲尼王A small hot spring hotel. I really feel the hotel's care. Compared to more prosperous areas, I prefer this kind of remote small hotel. I feel that the hotel wants to do every place carefully. Although the price is cheap, there are many details. Everything is well done. For example, there is a self-service snack and drink area in the lobby, which is available 24 hours a day. Yukata for children is also provided. The hotel rooms are very clean. I wonder if they have been renovated, so the rooms are very new and clean.
DDuboisTristanThis place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
The average price for hotels in Takayama is SAR 964 on weekdays, and SAR 1,050 on weekends (Friday-Saturday).
