"First thing I noticed was the excellent friendly service at the front counter. This service continued at breakfast the next morning, which was very nice - it was a menu-style breakfast where you order a breakfast you would like. Breakfast with salmon had a small supplement.
The room was mostly okay, although there were some stains on the bedsheet. Inclusion of earplugs was a nice touch as it is on the main road - I happen to like the city noise, but ended up using them to block out the noise of the fan (there is no air conditioning).
The bathroom had nice toiletries although we noticed that the cold tap ran hot for quite a while before it got cold.
Overall the stay was fine, but with lots of hotels available in Colchester it wouldn’t be my first pick to return."
"Hotel was close to Colchester Station which was a bonus as my friend and I just needed to bed down for the night. Staff were friendly and welcoming but not always available. We had a curry next door as they recommended the food and it was good. Room was ok but noisy from the traffic in the morning outside the front of the hotel. Decor and furnishings somewhat dated but just about comfortable enough. Maintenance needs attention. Minor issues such as hairdryer not fixed properly to the wall and no option to switch shower head as the lever was missing. However phone didn't work when I called Reception several times on hearing the fire alarm sound. Turned out to be a false alarm but couldn't be too complacent. Tried the stairwell and was thankful that the exit and side door were accessible, unlike the main front door which had a set of keys dangling from it and was only unlocked when we left in search of breakfast. Overall mixed review."
"Parking free hotel environment is super good, the room is good, the sound is good, the sound is good, it is more convenient to go up to the center, go down to the university, there is a col park next to the university. Don't be too convenient. Breakfast is ordered. Don't be curious to order other fish. Egg rolls. It's really small or honest. Order English breakfast, dear"

"The hotel building is unique, the hotel breakfast is good and the dinner is good. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the service is very good. The hotel has two parts, the old building and the new building. The old building faces the street. There are sounds from nearby trains and motor vehicles. If you are afraid of noisy, it is recommended to live in a new building."

Great
GGuest UserThe staff were lovely friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable and peaceful and I had everything I needed it was nice to have a few places next to the front to eat ..the manager was really nice my only bad point is that if you don't drive be prepared for the taxi drivers to completely rip you off I had to phone about 10 cab companies to eventually get a cab to the station 2 mins cost me £22 but that is not the hotels fault
GGuest UserThe hotel has a beautiful environment, the room is very clean and comfortable for two nights, and the restaurant is delicious. Surrounded by kindergartens, supermarkets, close to the University of Essex. Surrounded by national forest parks, cute animals can be seen walking
Ggudetama_travelsThe swimming pool appeared quite big, although we didn't get a chance to use it. Our room was fairly roomy for two people, but with our group of four, it felt a bit crowded. It's worth noting that if you have heavy luggage, you might want to avoid booking a room on the top floor (second floor), as there are no lifts available in this hotel. The bathroom provided only shampoo and body wash, so you might need to bring or purchase your own conditioner.
The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Despite anticipating a traditional British offering, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available, including English hot meals, a salad bar, a selection of cereals (there was Alpen!), milk alternatives (I particularly enjoyed the Oatly), and two coffee machines.
Their breakfast was so impressive that I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again when I visit Colchester next time.
GGuest UserMe and my daughter had a lovely stay. We slept very well, the bed were very comfortable and pillows and the room was lovely and clean and had everything in there we needed. We were both very happy.
Swimming pool was lovely just needs modernising and floors cleaned as were dirty. However, over all very pleased and love to stay again.

GGuest UserBeen here before.
We had such a great stay previously, so we thought we would stay here again!
We had a different room, still had a great view and the room had lots of space!
GGuest UserWe stayed for just one night as we were having a school reunion nearby, so we didn't try the restaurant. We didn't have hreakfast either, so can't comment on it. The location is easy to find - just off the A12. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. Easy car parking. Exactly what we required.
GGuest UserGreat hotel with a lot of history to it, and as such a very nice place to stay at. Friendly and approachable staff. Unfortunately, I had booked two rooms without adequate facilities; one room did not have hot water and the other had a malfunctioning shower. Could have been bad luck, and I suspect the hotel management to be able to fix this issue.
