13 Bees

I've just returned from a 3 night stay at 13 Bees, what a haven of peace & quiet! This place is a must for nature lovers & birdwatchers alike. The house itself is set in a garden of Eden, surrounded by a variety of beautiful trees and wildflowers. I've never seen so many butterflies! I even managed to spot 2 golden oriels playing tag amongst the trees. The birdsong in the morning was absolutely stupendous and the cacophony of frogs from the river Vienne outside the house in the evenings just made me want to chuckle in delight at the profusion of wildlife. The room itself was huge by UK standards with a large en-suite bathroom & rainfall shower with water pressure to die for! Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. You have everything you could want & an exceptional breakfast to boot. The hosts Amanda & Kevin were really lovely and a total mine of information for all the questions I had to ask about the surrounding area. I may even try one of their bee-keeping taster sessions in the future. The location itself is perfect as it's just a 5 minute stroll to the gorgeous little town of Confolens itself. I will definitely be back!

I just took their Beekeeping introduction course this weekend and couldn't have been more impressed with the experience, knowledge acquired, and the passion and clarity of Kevin & Amanda in their teachings... and the comfort of my stay! Cannot recommend highly enough, or would rather say essential, if you are remotely interestedly in learning how to be a good beekeeper

This a hidden oasis, the perfect place to calm the mind, body and soul. The B&B is very comfortable, our room was light and airy and the rest of the house is beautiful. Kevin and Amanda are super hosts, really welcoming and very knowledgeable. Confolens is a great town, lots of history and stunning scenery

We have just come back from a fantastic stay at this excellent b&b. Kevin and Amanda are so warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay after a long journey. The room was well equipped with a large bathroom, comfy bed and we had excellent views from the large windows. We highly recommend a stay here!

13 Bees is in a lovely location about 15 mins walk from the centre of Confolens. The rooms look out over the river, or the owners' garden where they keep bees - you can also book a beekeeping experience here, and buy jars of their honey. My room was clean and comfortable and I slept well - which is unsual for me! The ensuite contained a walk-in shower and there were fans in the room and shutters on the window which kept it cool during the day. There was plenty of clothes storage and no shortage of hangers. It was a lovely place to return to at the end of the day. There is outside seating on the terrace, and a shaded area in the garden, as well as local walks along by the river and into the village where there are beautiful medieval streets and picturesque views along the river. The owners, Amanda and Kevin, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The breakfast was lovely and there's a huge bookcase on the landing with loads of books to choose from. I would love to return here, and it's great value as well!

A quiet place convenient to the road south, with no bright city lights to disturb our sleep and a good place to park the car right out front. There is little traffic and a nice view of the river, and the welcome was warm and genuine. Amanda has a huge collection of interesting books (alphabetically arranged by author!), and TV is only to be found in the lounge, which encourages rest and relaxation. Very comfortable stay!
