For our recent tour to Ireland, we stayed at Dromcloc House. I looked for accommodations where I could see the water. We arrived Dromcloc House from Cork Airport - a bit frazzled in adjusting to driving on the left and following the GPS. The GPS took us directly to Dromcloc House that is a bit off the main highway, and just over an hour from the airport, given our cautious driving. True to the pictures, Bantry Bay is right there and a beautiful sunset welcomed us. Dromcloc House was our home for 4 nights. Our room was clean and very adequate. Our days started with a delicious breakfast, cooked to order, served graciously. Our host gave us valuable tips for interesting places and roads to take, and avoid. This was the first time I stayed at a Farmhouse B&B and we learned about the farm and the house - being in the family for 5 generations, various furnishings and decor provided the feeling of a family home, which I found comforting. The exterior has pretty flower plantings and furniture for sitting outside. It’s an attractive and tranquil place. Dromcloc House is just outside of Bantry, a very pleasant town for walking around - more residential than touristy. When I was making plans for this West Cork/Beara tour, I hadn’t planned on touring the Sheepshead Peninsula, but at our host’s recommendation we did and I am so glad we did. In the evenings I enjoyed looking at the Bay and then relaxing in the sitting room, having a cup of tea (tea and coffee are always available to make), and watching a bit of television. The sitting room is quite large and would be a fun place to visit and play cards or games for a group traveling together. The window in the room also overlooked the Bay. Other locations we toured while staying at Dromcloc House include Gougane Barra, Garinish Island (outside Glengariff), most of the Beara Peninsula, Kenmare, Caha Pass, and Mizenhead (and Mizen Peninsula). My husband and I are grateful to the Crowley Family for their wonderful hospitality.
