Retro Inn at Mesa Verde

Very good experience staying at the Retro Inn. Great selection of breakfast and friendly staff. The motel gives you a vibe of the 1970s, which was very cool. And they also have ping pong table, chess set, and many more. Highly recommended

We stayed in the Great Gatsby suite and it was very nice. Bathroom was huge - the shower was so nice - just wish there was 2 water heads instead of the one but it was awesome. Breakfast was great too.

We recently stayed at the Retro Inn and I can definitely highly recommend it. We stayed in room 1976, and although it's not quite as decorated/themed as some of the other rooms, it was still a great place to stay. As with most of these older style motels, the room is fairly large. We were also glad to see that the sink was outside the toilet/shower area as that helps with a family getting ready in the morning or heading to bed. Of course, you can also back right up to your room, which is super helpful for loading and unloading when on a long road trip. The motel seems to be pretty close to everything in town. There is a game room/hangout room in the middle of the motel, and while we did not utilize it, I can see it being great, especially if staying multiple nights. The breakfast was generally the standard fare but had a couple of other options that you don't always see, such as a breakfast burrito you can heat up. The coffee was also very good. About the only thing I didn't like about our room was that there was no "constant" fan setting on the air conditioner, so it kicked on and off all night, but that's about it. The room was clean and if I come through this way again, I would definitely stay here again.

We recently spent a night at The Retro Inn in Cortez, CO, and it was an incredible experience! We stayed in room 1984, which had a fun Miami Vice theme and two comfortable queen beds. The room itself was huge—way more spacious than we expected! The bathroom was also very large and well-appointed, making our stay feel extra special. What really blew us away was discovering a pocket door in the room. When we slid it open, we were absolutely shocked to find a full-size eat-in kitchen! It had everything—dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and all the cooking essentials except for the food itself. It felt like we’d stumbled upon a hidden gem within the room. I even went to the front desk to make sure we were actually allowed to use it, and the friendly staff member assured us it was all part of our room. There were a couple of locked doors that seemed to lead to other parts of the building, and it felt like we were staying in an old family home, complete with charming character and history. It was such a unique and delightful surprise, and we couldn’t believe what an amazing deal it was. We only wished we had more time to enjoy it all, but we had other plans for the trip. The staff we interacted with were all so friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. The grounds of the inn were also super cute and inviting, with fun retro touches that really added to the vibe of the place. We absolutely loved our stay at The Retro Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cortez. It’s such a fun, comfortable, and unique place to stay. In fact, we’re already planning a return trip—next time, we’ll definitely be booking a longer stay so we can really enjoy that incredible kitchen and all the cozy, retro charm!

Based on the great reviews, we decided to give this little motel a try. It is an older charming motel that we found was in a great location with lots of restaurants nearby, was very clean and certainly had a unique vibe! It was sort of like the quaint motels you would find on Route 66. We stayed in the Concorde room which was decorated with photos of Mission Control-Houston, and various aircraft. The furniture is a little worn, but the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast consisted of muffins, already prepared breakfast tacos, cereal and juice. Although it was not a big breakfast compared to more expensive motels, we didn't leave hungry. All in all, we loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The staff were very kind and polite. The breakfast was delicious and there were facilities to play in, so I was very satisfied. There is a supermarket nearby, so it is a convenient location for shopping.
