GF Fañabe

As a family of 3 this was our first stay at the GF Fanabe, previously we have stayed in Las Americas. We have had a great stay, loved every minute and don’t want to go home. The food is typical of any all inclusive resort, but we managed, great selection. Fantastic location, close to the beach and all restaurants. The only negative is the sunbeds, this is common with all hotels in Tenerife, you have to stay with your sunbeds until 10am, if not the towels will be removed. This will only be a concern in the main school holidays. However we have dealt with it and had, an amazing holiday. Highly recommend.

Just back from a 2 week stay with my family, this hotel has the potential to be good but unfortunately is let down by quite a few aspects. Rooms are ok, a bit dated but clean and cleaned every day to a good standard. Towels replaced every day and beds changed when requested by leaving a card on your pillow. I have to say the cleaners are one of the few positives this hotel has to offer, always friendly, helpful and do a good job. We did find quite a few cockroaches in our room but found leaving the light on seemed to deter them from coming out. Food is a real let down, there’s plenty of choice but it’s poor quality. A few days we found the food to be cooked lovely and it was very tasty. More often than not though it was undercooked (raw turkey and chicken on more than one occasion) or over cooked. Pasta is one of the easiest dishes to make yet every day the pasta was very overcooked, it was mushy almost. Also every day pork, pork and more pork! We were half board and ended up going elsewhere as we were so sickened by it. Some of the waiting staff we also found to be quite miserable, mostly those in the white shirts ( older lady with glasses and guy with baldy head). If you don’t like your job find something else instead of being so miserable! The pool area is rough, where do I even start. Well it begins at around 5.30/5.45 with staff dragging sun loungers around the pool setting up for the day. I was woken almost every morning of our stay at this time! Why can this not be done in the evening or later in the morning? On our first morning I couldn’t believe my eyes when I was woken to see everyone sitting in the dark on the loungers! By 7/7.15 all loungers are gone, the hotel did try to stop this by removing any towels left unattended but I don’t feel this really helped the issue in any way. I’ve stayed at other hotels that stack the beds up and chain them to prevent this from happening and it worked really well, only allowing people in from 9.30. I think the hotel needs to do something like this as it’s out of control at the minute. Also during our 2 weeks I didn’t see the pool area being cleaned once! Under the loungers are filthy with many having a buildup of black mud/sludge. There was a false nail under one lounger for 8 days! Anywhere else I’ve stayed has power washed or deck scrubbed the pool area every day or every other day. Please give the pool area a good clean!!! Entertainment at the pool during the day was good and the team put in a good effort to keep the kids and adults busy. In the evening however some of the acts at the pool bar were bloody awful! It’s very loud and even in your room you can’t escape it. I heard other guests also complaining how awful it was some nights. We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment on that although it looked very reasonably priced. The bar can be a bit pricey, there didn’t seem to be a good choice for those all inclusive. Overall we did not enjoy our stay and would not return to this hotel.

This is an excellent hotel. The staff are fantastic, it is spotless and cleaned constantly, the food for All Inclusive is very good and as a veggie I was able to eat well every time. The entertainment and pools are very good and the location is a 10 minute stroll to the beach and the designer mall is literally behind the hotel. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a week 03.08.25-10.08.25 the staff were all friendly and polite soon as we got to reception they said our room was ready us. The room was big and spacious and had a balcony which we got a side view of the small pools and had the zip line swing and football pitch facing us. The food wasn’t great as I am a fussy eater but my our daughter managed to find a little something to eat. Breakfast was a no no for us we only went down once and I couldn’t rate that at all. We did find a restaurant across the road that served English and Scottish breakfast that was quite nice. I must say trying to get a sun bed was quite difficult as people had their towels on them before 9am. There was a lovely lady called Sara who worked at the bar she always made us feel welcome 😀. They had children’s entertainment that was ok and the evening entertainment wasn't too bad either. We did notice as well that after 11pm along the corridors you would hear children making a noise and running along as there are gaps under the door you can hear everything. Our room was cleaned daily to a good standard and towels changed everyday. We did go to Fanabe beach where we hired a paddle boat for €25 for the hour, that was fun. We also went on the train tour which was €42 double return trip, we spent some time at Playa De Las Americas it was really lovely. Thursday and Saturday there was the Fañabe market behind our hotel that had some lovely stalls, bags hats clothes gifts etc we bought quite a few things from here at good prices. We did take part in a survey along the beach where we won a free bottle of wine which we collected at a local hotel and we also picked a card and won a free holiday they did take our details so hope to hear from them soon 🤞🏻 (we are still waiting to hear back as they said 10 days after you arrive back in the UK, we are hoping that they do contact us otherwise it’s false information and advertment) Overall it was a lovely holiday and would recommend to families. 👍🏻

La semana q hemos estado genial.El equipo de animación espectacular .Limpieza y comida genial.Trato familiar.Mi hijo mayor hizo 17 años en el periodo de estancia y tuvieron un detalle con él,en la habitación le dejaron galletitas,chocolatinas y agua fresca en la nevera ,aparte de un mensaje en el espejo felicitandolo. Si avisas al hotel q tu hijo hace los añitos mientras estás hospedado le hacen una pequeña sorpresa.Tienen en la azotea dos piscinas con hamacas y bar solo para adultos lo más, vaya paz.Para repetir

It’s really difficult to know how to review GF Fanabe as there are so many positives about the hotel, but you can’t ignore the huge negatives which impact your holiday. This is my honest review of a two week stay at the start of the school holidays. PRO’s The majority of the staff are incredibly friendly and were great with my daughter. The cleaners do a great job and the team in blue shirts at the bars and restaurants are great, however I always found the staff in white shirts to be quite rude and always talked over you (especially the lady with grey hair and glasses in the restaurant/pool bar) It’s good to have two areas for entertainment, by the pool for the kids disco/show, then a singer out front (both being outside is a lovely change nowadays). I was sceptical when I found out both bars on an evening are table service, however the team work so hard and I was very rarely sat with an empty glass. Rooms are basic, but perfectly adequate for a holiday, bathroom definitely requires some work, but nothing which affected our stay. We was on the 4th Floor with a gorgeous sea view, had zero issues with noise. Location again is good, a supermarket over the road, a market just behind the hotel and a short walk to the beachfront and many restaurants/bars (keep in mind it’s an uphill walk back though). CON’s This is where it starts to go wrong. In basic terms, the hotel is not equipped to deal with with the number of guests. I’ve never experienced sunbed wars before, here it was daily. If you wasn’t up by 7am you can forget getting a sunbed around the pool, then if you leave before 10am your towels are removed. You are therefore left with a decision of sitting by the pool with your family or eat breakfast together, you can’t do both. The hotel seems to have large groups of people and most days one guest could be reserving 8+ beds. The issue isn’t the number of beds they are taking up, it was the fact half of these could be for children who spent most of the day in the pool. The other bonkers thing is due to the layout, some some loungers don’t even get sun until midday, while the ones who did get sun at 9am have lost it by 2pm. This is the first hotel I’ve ever been to that can be nearly empty by the pool at 5pm! Despite being no sunbeds by the pools, you had your pick up in the adult area which was never even close to being full. If the hotels policy to remove towels is to discourage bed hogging then it’s really not working. The lack of seating also impacts the external seating at the front of the hotel, again large groups would push multiple tables together leaving no seating for other guests. Yes you can sit inside, but you can’t hear the live music. Food, although the main restaurant has plenty of fresh food, they don’t seem to offer any themed evenings. The food becomes very repetitive after a few days and despite being all inclusive, we are out more than in. Would I come back to this hotel, I don’t think I would unless something is done
