An Chúirt Hotel, Gweedore, Donegal

Staff were helpful, hotel was clean. Fara Ogs is very nice, staff are very accommodating and it had a nice atmosphere. The bar in the hotel is disappointing, it’s very small, has a strange layout and is deathly quiet. The cleaners seemed to move things in our room that didn’t need to be moved, and threw a bag away that wasn’t rubbish and wasn’t anywhere near the rubbish bin. Breakfast was basic, we didn’t go until 10am so that has to be taken into consideration also but the food was cold and there wasn’t many options. However, the staff were very nice. The bed in the room was comfortable, but the TV was small and the temperature was very confusing to control and didn’t seem to work.

Beautiful grounds friendly staff.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location with well appointed rooms. The staff are really friendly. The health spa/gym exceeded expectations. I really loved the bar which had a very decent pint and great music. I definitely will be back.

Stayed here for a family wedding. Great venue for a wedding - friendly staff, large comfortable rooms and beautiful surroundings. Nice food - only slight disappointment was the breakfast - basic enough and no quality coffee. Otherwise would strongly recommend.

We attended a wedding in this hotel and were allocated a room with a view of a lake which we did not ask for. We were charged approximately 60 euros extra for the room. ( more than other wedding guests ) We requested a room without a view of the lake but were refused. On first entering the room we noticed there was actually a busy and noisy road between the room with a view ( room 234 ) and the end of a lake. We were not made aware at any point in time that our room was going to be badly affected by the noise from a wedding reception being held that night. This is something the manager must have been aware of when charging us extra. Needless to say we weren’t able to sleep until 3 am as the noise was horrific. We asked to be moved that night but were refused. We were moved the following morning to a dreary very large room with 3 beds with old carpets, really old furniture no safe, and overlooking a fence. There were no phone chargers beside the bed and there was a blood stain on the bed cover. The room temperature was 25% and the room thermostat did not allow us to change it. We spoke to the night receptionist who said that only the day reception staff could alter heating. Again needless to say it was impossible to sleep. The next day the receptionist told us her only option was to switch it off completely which wasn’t acceptable. The manager was extremely unhelpful when we contacted him later. He refused to make any reimbursement for our distress and lack of sleep or offer a better room which we knew was available as our friends managed to book a nice room the following day. We did pay slightly less for the unwelcoming room ( 20 euros ) but it was still more than our other friends played for a much nicer room. The managers response was that they take great pride in providing a quality service. When asked was he proud of the quality service he provided us with, he didn’t response. On checking other reviews. The manager seems to adopt this standard response of them taking great pride in providing a quality service without actually dealing with any distress caused. I would not stay here again based on managements response and the distress caused. Do not stay in room 234 if there is a wedding on or room 102 as it is too old and antiquated
