We had 2 nice stays here in June on the way and on the way back from a holiday further north. We were greeted by a friendly and courteous host who showed us to our room which was small but comfortable. The breakfast was good. We asked for a mix and match from the menu and the chef was very obliging saying it made the cooking interesting. On the morning of our last stay we asked if he would fill our flask with hot water for us for our journey. He obliged and we were very pleasantly surprised to be given some sandwiches which he had made for us for our journey. Thank you to him. Dalbeattie is a lovely little town with very friendly people and some interesting independent shops. We will be going back.

Came for dinner and would definitely return. Staff were all really friendly. Service was quick. The food was excellent. Really tasty menu. Recommend the haggis bob Bon’s and the salt and pepper chicken.

Staff were very welcoming & friendly, they are a credit to the hotel, bar & restaurant. Had the Highlander burger for dinner, which was amazingly good. Breakfast was nice too. Food & drink were very reasonably priced. Room was very clean & good overall. However, we both had a terrible night’s sleep due to the oppressive heat. We ensured the heating was turned off when we arrived as we felt it immediately & left the window open all night. Unfortunately, the clock tower on the opposite side of the road is ridiculous loud through an open window & the fan provided was about as powerful as a warm fart on its highest setting. We heard every chime of the clock from midnight until we left for breakfast at 8am. We also noticed that it was hot in the hotel corridors generally as the heating was on everywhere. I assume the heat is a known issue, because there was no duvet on the bed (only a sheet) & the duvet was stored in the cupboard. The lack of sleep made for a very difficult 7.5hr drive home the following day, which was disappointing as the purpose of the stay was to break up a long journey & be well rested. If the heating issue is resolved this hotel would be one I’d happily recommend. My genuine recommendation that would make any future stay pleasurable would be to save money & turn the heating down in communal areas & invest in some better quality fans for the room.

Stayed one night on road trip around south-west Scotland. The room was clean and warm, with all the necessary facilities, and the bed was comfortable. The shower cabinet and wash-hand basin were in the room itself rather than as I would have preferred within the en-suite. There was also no hand towel provided (just a bath towel). Despite being over a busy pub there was no noise in the evening. The large cooked breakfast was delicious, although the milk in the coffee machine was curdled. Although no dedicated parking, it was easy to find a convenient on-street parking place.

Booked a last min overnight stay here. On arrival staff were very friendly and helpful. Shown to room which was a triple room, plenty space, clean, nice decor, and had everything you need, nice big comfy beds. Had dinner in the evening, family joined us and again the staff very friendly and attentive, food was amazing, everyone of us enjoyed it and great value. Outside seating and games room with pool table and darts was an added bonus. Great breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.

Visited with 2 elderly relatives. We have been years ago and decided to go for an early Mother's Day lunch. The food was fantastic, from the steak pie with the most tender steak to the open steak sandwich both served with home made chips. One of the elderly women had ham and cheese toastie but it was gorgeous thick cut cooked ham in it,she loved it so much she took the leftovers home. Very clean, promptly served and very reasonably priced.Give it a go,you will not be disappointed.
