Mike's Dauin Dive Resort

I travelled solo to Mike's Dauin Beach Resort for nine days in May for diving and underwater photography. This is a quaint, quiet and very accommodating budget-friendly venue right on the water. Accommodations - The room was moderate size with a desk and armoire. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. It includes a TV with multiple channels. Restaurant - The menu is diverse, including Filipino and Mexican food. The staff was very accommodating and will even cook things not on the menu. Dive Service - Dauin is a world class venue for macro photography. I couldn't believe how many critters I kept seeing on each dive. The guides like Ace and Gabi are as good as you can ask for in finding animals and watching out for your safety. Apo Island is nearby and is a nice one day option. There was healthy coral as well as muck diving. Misc - This is a place also for non-divers. There is a pool, kayaks and local great restaurants nearby. I had a pizza that was definitely better than my home places. A guide can be arranged also for guided tours into the jungle for spotting birds, etc. May is the low season so it wasn't crowded and the weather was excellent. Mike and the managers James and Kate went out of the way to make my stay special, as did all of the staff who always greeted you with smiles. Consider this before you book your next stay anywhere in the Philippines or Indonesia.

We loved our stay at Mike's. From our warm welcome to the ever friendly and obliging staff to the diving our stay was everything we expected. All the staff are wonderful and we appreciated everything you did for us. You are too numerous to mention by name but we were so happy to get to know you all. Thank you all so much for your excellent attention, care and kindness. The diving was amazing and we would not have seen many of the creatures we did if it wasn't for eagle-eyed Raul and Ace, our marvellous dive guides. We thoroughly enjoyed the dives. We saw so many creatures we had never seen before. We felt safe and well looked after. In addition, James and Kate were very amenable in arranging the type of dives we wanted to do. The meals were delicious- I know I was predictable with ordering a vegetarian burrito every night but they were superb. Being vegetarian there are a lot of options on the menu and other dishes can be modified to suit. This review would not be complete without mentioning Lilo and Stitch, our constant doggy companions. We left part of our hearts with you two. We hope that we will see you all again one day-this time with partners in tow !

A little gem in Dauin! A smaller dive resort with a super peaceful feel even at full capacity. Beautiful grounds with swimming pool and access to the beach. The dive team is amazing and so knowledgeable. You always dive in a small group and the guides are constantly finding amazing critters! We also loved the bar and kitchen and found the food and drinks excellent. Special thanks to our dive guides Kevin and Raoul, you were both amazing!! Apart from the amazing muck diving, the trips to Apo island were also amazing and the coral is breathtaking. The staff is so kind and attentive, thanks to Nathan who didn’t manage to say goodbye to on our last day, you are the best! Highly highly recommended staying here to all scuba diving enthusiasts.

We spent another 10 days at Mike’s Dauin dive resort, a place we cherished the last time we were here seven years before. We were lucky to be here during the transition from veteran managers Corri and Jonathan to the new ones Kate and James. Kate and James bring a lot of experience managing other resorts in Indonesia. All of them have a way to make you feel like a part of a big family right from the arrival up to the last minute spent on the premises. Joy and Jonalyn from the management office are always happy to assist with any needs you have. The chefs at the kitchen with Ronald, Jula, Alma, Nenita and William make an effort for all the meals to be perfect. The menu is a mix of western, Mexican and local recipes; you will always find something tasty to consume. Also look out for the daily specials. Leah, Jessa, Mary Joy and Nathan are the bar staff who are always smiling and are going the extra mile to set you up with the most sophisticated drinks you can dream of. The maintenance of the grounds is outstanding, the attention to detail in designing the garden will make you feel like living in a mini botanical garden! Mark, Ignacio and Jeffrey from the maintenance team are always on top of things. Marilyn, Tata and Jennifer will keep your room clean and always stocked with all what’s needed. And there is Peter! Peter is the security guard keeping us safe every night and handing us the first coffee of the day whe we come back from our morning walk. An amazing guy, always smiling, always positive! At the dive shop I present to you the dive guides. This time we dove with Raul and Ace, last time we also dove with Gabi! There were times we could not keep up shooting the amount of beings they were pointing out! All of them will find anything in the muck you can think of. Sometimes you see what it is just when you download the pictures to a bigger screen. We had a lot of fun and safety is top of the list during the diving trips. The trip to Apo island was fun enjoyable and as always a treat with the abundance of marine life. Victor the skipper an Jonel the speed boat guru as well as the boat crew and “life handrail holders” Edgar, Brian and Jerry will take good care of the guests, no matter if on the boat or at the dive shop! All in one everything works seamlessly to make one of your most enjoyable dive experiences ever! I hope I did not let anyone out of my review! Thank you all! The fact that I wanted to mention all people from the resort attests to the quality of service you get there. You feel like you become part of a bigger family, a family of people who know that the best place to stay in Dauin is Mike’s Dive Resort!

My group and I had the honour to spend around 2 weeks at Mike's Dauin Beach Resort. There was nothing to blame about or to be criticised. The resort is wonderful location, not overloaded. With direct access to Beach and Sea. For people who don't like salt water... there's also a nice pool! Rooms are well equipped, clean and properly maintained. Beautiful, friendly management and staff, good food, good service, brilliant diving. We recommend this place with 5* and 100%. For sure we will return! Thx to all for the brilliant time we could spend there! ❤️

One of the best dive trips I have ever had. The staff were very friendly. Ace did an amazing job as our dive master, he has eyes like an hawk and really knows the dive sites well. The help on the boat did an outstanding job to make the dives effortlessly. Everything from putting your fins on before and after the dive to taking your BCD before you got back on the boat nice job Victor. The meals were top notch, hats off to the cooks. The daily massage was off the hook. Thank you Wendy you were fabulous. I have already booked again for next year.
