Silver Lake Bed and Breakfast

We stayed one night in Aug 2025. There was an abundance of communication, about 4 or 5 emails and 6 or 7 texts. Pros: the bluestone fireplace (beautiful), Maple the cat and the porch for sitting outside. Cons/Neutrals: The bed was hard as a rock, so uncomfortable. We had a lot of trouble sleeping. There were no comfortable chairs in the room either. If you are someone who watches TV, it is small. For 2 people we received 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth each. There was one wire hanger for clothes. You cannot eat in the room. Don't expect snacks or beverages like most B&Bs. It is minimalist decor. You can hear everything going on upstairs, walking, flushing, TV, talking. Obviously, they can hear you too. So you have to be mindful of that all the times. You need to let the innkeeper know exactly when you'll arrive. You need to choose a precise time for breakfast. You can't just show up between 8 and 9. Be sure to sign up the night before if you want breakfast there. We wouldn't stay again. It just wasn't a comfortable stay.

The staff was not there in person upon arrival, however they provided details (including photos) photos that made check in very easy. Breakfast was delicious and I was able to get back on the road quickly.

Peaceful retreat: A+ We were extremely pleased with our recent stay at Silver Lake B&B. Innkeepers Rob and Kayla could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. We felt like family, the moment we walked in. We booked the 2br suite for two adults and two teenagers, and were quite comfortable. The area is strikingly beautiful and convenient to downtown Harrisonburg and James Madison University. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again, when we find ourselves back in the area. Pro tip: Be sure to make time for some “front porch sittin’” in the evenings. Watching the sun setting behind the distant mountains is a true blessing, and the perfect way to end your day. If you enjoy beautiful bucolic views and the slower rhythms of life, book with confidence… this place is for you.
