DOOO NOT STAY HERE THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!! First of all during our stay I smelled propane gas by the sunviking cafe I was standing in the doorway of the indoor pool and could smell propane gas I went even closer and it was so strong. I had thought I smelled it the day before but didnt think anything of it just thought someone was cooking but no I left emergently becasue when I called 911 they barely checked it out and left. And said its not propane your semlling I was so distraught with my children and getting out of there IDK what they even said it was that they made up out of their heads. I have a gas stove so YES i know what propane smells like and thats definetly it. I HAD A GAS leak and firefighters came all dressed fully suited one person came a police officer and cleared it sorry but firefighters are traind for this where are they?? YOUR CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER HERE!!!! OUR ROOM WAS RIGHT NEAR THAT SUNVIKING CAFE!! YOUR LUCKY I DIDNT GET SICK BECAUSE IF I DID I WOULD SUE YOU SO BAD YOU WOULD BE OUT OF BUISNESS. Second of all there was a roach in my room!!!!! Third of all there is no water slide like advertised on thier website false advertisement BIG TIME. THird the room was not fully equipped kitchen like stated no pots or pans and i asked for pots and pans and got none had to take my kids and pay for dinner. I brought food to cook and could not I have three kids and trying to save money by cooking and coundlt do that as ADVERTISED and they refused to refund my money!!!

I absolutely love this place! This is our second time back and my kids enjoy everything about it. The beds are super comfy along with the pillows. Rooms are clean and welcoming. Cora at the front desk was so sweet and professional. We will definitely be back again. Plus, I have to come see my boyfriend Karl, the Viking again 🤣 ❤️

I’m heartbroken to say this was our worst experience in over 50 years of visiting Sun Viking Lodge. In Daytona. My family has been coming here every other year since 1972, but this will sadly be our last time. The place has gone drastically downhill. The water slide was removed, the hot tub was broken the entire stay, and the rooms were not cleaned regularly. Hallways and elevators were filthy, and the kitchen was barely open. The front desk staff showed little concern about any of the issues we brought up. We saw homeless individuals wandering around the property and even using the restrooms. There was no security presence or anyone checking if people were actual guests, which made us feel unsafe. The entire place is falling apart—paint is peeling off the walls, and construction is happening all over the building and rooms. What once felt like a family-friendly, safe vacation spot now feels neglected and rundown. Housekeeping was poor—clean towels were only brought every few days, and vacuuming didn’t happen unless we specifically asked. The pools were shut down multiple times, and there’s no activity director for the kids anymore—just a lonely baseball goal. Some of the guests raised concerns as well, and it no longer feels like the wholesome, family motel we cherished. It’s devastating to say that after five decades, our family (including my siblings and their children who’ve also been lifelong guests) won’t be returning. The new owners should truly be ashamed. Beautiful view of the ocean and beach! Very family friendly and accommodating staff to your family’s needs during your stay. We loved the pools and the convenience of everything we needed/wanted being right there. Great price for the five days we stayed. The rooms were very clean could use some minor updating. Also if reserving a room with a kitchen just be sure to ask about the utensils, pots, pans, towels, dish soap included so you don’t overpack. The kitchen came with most items I would definitely bring a bottle opener and some good knives for chopping/cutting. They have some knives and a cutting board but I was happy I brought at least two from home. They had silverware, plates and bowls etc but I brought disposable/biodegradable plates and bowls to skip additional washing for meals.

My husband and I brought our kids for an overnight trip at the beach and ended up leaving after seeing our room…my parents used to bring our family every year for vacation growing up and not a thing has changed…literally! The room was rusting, crumbling walls, kitchen appliances rusting, damp carpets and bedding…all just falling apart. I couldn’t imagine letting myself or my children get under those covers! A huge disappointment!!

We have been staying at this hotel since the early 2000’s. Sun Viking was our family favorite, in Daytona, many memories were made here. Last weekend all I can say was I was disappointed and saddened that they would actually book this room. I get it, with the recent hurricanes and the moisture that an ocean view establishment encounter but this was unacceptable. The smell of mold was unbearable, the room looked as if it was in a remodel status. The south facing windows would not properly close, creating the wind tunnel effect of a hurricane due to the ocean breeze. The popcorn had been removed from a the ceiling and it looked as if the had just applied a fresh coat of Kilz! Needless to say I could not stay here. We checked in and checked out. Management did refund my 2 night stay, I applaud them for that. Saddened and disappointed from Tequesta Florida. :(
