Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat

L'isola è piccola e magnifica proprio per questo. Chi vuole i negozi, l'animazione, la movida deve andarsene da un'altra parte. I ragazzi dello staff gentilissimi e sempre sorridenti, il cibo è buono e vario, considerato che tutto quello che arriva alle Maldive è importato. Quindi un minimo ci si deve adattare. La beach villa è grande, comoda, immersa nella natura con bagno all'aperto, niente a che vedere con i bungalow che sono tutti attaccati e che prevedono una lunga passerella di legno per arrivare al ristorante, ma sono gusti. La beach ha l'accesso alla spiaggia in 20 secondi, con ombrellone e lettini privati. La camera viene pulita 2 volte al giorno, ti lasciano sempre 2 bottiglie d'acqua ogni giorno, di mattina e di sera. L'all inclusive prevede alcune bevande dal minibar e bevande varie dal bar, compresi snack salati e dolci. L'isola ha un reef ricco e vicino, l'ingresso è diretto dalla spiaggia, sopratutto la zona del pontile è un acquario, con squali di barriera, mante, una tartaruga, e tantissimi pesci. Nella zona ristorante ci sono alcuni sacchi con sabbia per evitare l'erosione. Ho letto alcune recensioni di persone che nemmeno avevano capito cosa fossero...(mah). Qualche volta alcuni pezzi si staccano e ho notato che la gente che fa il bagno se nota queste cose non le raccoglie. Il mare è di tutti!!! Raccogliete, è nostro dovere mantenerlo pulito.

Siamo stati al Drift 13 giorni a fine Febbraio. Era la ns 14 VOLTA alle Maldive, quindi abbiamo un margine di paragone. Drift è un' isola incantevole con una laguna da sogno e reef accessibile dalla riva in poche pinnate. Sull' Isola è presente h24 Giulia la Referente di Turisanda. Una ragazza super gentile e MOLTO MOLTO disponibile. La formula All-inclusive che dà Turisanda x i suoi clienti è a davvero triste, quindi sconsiglio di farla (noi x fortuna non l'abbiamo fatta, i nostri amici si e se ne sono pentiti) Anche avendo All-inclusive iL caffè espresso al Bar è a pagamento, la birra con 1000 scuse hanno sempre detto NON essere al momento disponibile. Diversi cocktail NON sono compresi. Se NON si ha la formula All-inclusi un thè freddo costa quasi 20 $, vergognoso x un Resort di fascia media pagare queste cifre......Ho soggiornato in tanti Resort anche più esclusivi e i costi delle bevande NON erano certo a questi livelli assolutamente !!!! La Ristorazione è il punto dolente del Drift. NON adatta a una clientela italiana (ma sul catalogo Turisanda è chiaramente scritto cucina Internazionale) Quindi inutile lamentarsi.....Colazione molto "triste". Le Beach Villa sono solo 10 e le Water Villa sono 20. Sono graziose e NON manca nulla in entrambe le tipologie di alloggio. Ottima la pulizia e la possibilità di avere la macchina Nespresso con capsule originali e GRATIS ogni giorno. Frigo bar NON COMPRESO nella formula All-inclusive ! AL Drift non sono ammessi bambini sotto i 12 anni .

The resort epitomizes customer service. Everyone who works there is pleasant, goes out of their way to make your stay extra special. The beach rooms and water villa’s are amazing. Hospitality services outstanding with twice a day turn down service. Food extraordinary, wide variety. Maria is worth a special mention for being always pleasant, quick to respond to any request and making everyone feel welcome. Diving was great, although the dive trips were 45 minutes to an hour away for most dives. Boat specious and crew very helpful

I spent 9 days at this resort just before Christmas. The island is very small but also very beautiful, truly a paradise– white sand, Palm trees, clear water. It is really quiet- perfect for relaxing, a barefoot island. I stayed in a Beach bungalow which was perfect as you get 2 Sundbeds and a parasol right outside of the bungalow. Even the occasional rain did not spoil my holidays, as you could still sit outside your Bungalow on the daybed. The accommodation was small but clean, with 2 Seats and a Bench inside, a big closet, safe, hairdryer. There was a Nespresso machine and tabs were replaced, but not the milk. 2 small bottles (less than 500ml each) are provided every day. The sink is in the room, shower and toilet are outside. I was worried at first about spiders getting in but there were none. What is a bit of a hassle is that the lighting in the room around the sink is really bad. The yellow lights around the mirror give your face a yellowish-green look and it was better with them turned off. You should invest in better lamps around the mirror or at least provide a vanity mirror with lights. I had half board, so I had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast had many choices but I would have liked more variety with the fruit. Dinner was really good. There was a different cuisine every day, which is repeated weekly. There was also a cook which prepared some dishes fresh for you. I really loved the variety, especially the salads. Also the dessert was not the usual bland buffet cakes but always special dishes representing the cuisine off the night. There is also a nice bar where you can watch the sunset an have some nice cocktails – I loved the Mango Martini. Service was really good and staff really friendly. What was really nice was that I got a nice breakfast the morning I was leaving, even at 5.30 am! The island was beautifully decorated with lights for Christmas. I had a nice, relaxing massage in the spa. What was very disappointing during my visit was, that none of the tours I signed up for were happening – Manta experience, Whale Shark and Coral Garden snorkelling. Apparently the weather was not good enough/too much wind. The one day where it was ok to go, there were not enough people signed up. There were 3 with me but the minimum for each tour were 6 people. This should be revised. At a small resort like this, 6 people are 10% of guests . The minimum should really be adjusted to 3 guests, especially if the weather cancels out many excursions. Unfortunately like this I got to see hardly any fish. At my previous visit to the Maldives at another small resort, also in December, there were Reef sharks swimming by the breakfast bungalow, stingrays and many fish. At Drift there was nothing. You can see one or two fish by the corals next to the boat jetty and there are some corals scattered around further out. However, due to the current being quite strong and me not being a good swimmer I did not dare go out by myself. What was

L'isola è molto piccola con una grande laguna che la circonda. Il reef si estende tutto intorno e si può perdere le ore facendo snorkeling. Si cominciano a vedere un po' di colori sui coralli e c'è una grande varietà di pesci. L'isola è tranquilla e senza animazione. Il buffet è piccolo ma non manca niente ed è tutto di buona qualità. Noi eravamo nelle water villa lato oceano che in questa isola è la scelta migliore. Infatti quelle lato laguna interna hanno meno privacy e le beach bungalow sono troppo soffocate nella vegetazione. Noi scegliamo sempre resort internazionali per non vedere troppi italiani ma una volta arrivati abbiamo scoperto che questa è un isola "affiliata" alla Turisanda con un ragazzo loro sempre in loco. Quindi la clientela è per il 70/80 % italiana. Per il resto era tutto perfetto. Anche tutto lo staff era gentile, sempre sorridente e disponibile. P.s. Nonostante la disinfestazione settimanale ci sono delle sand flies un po' cattivelle.

Heaven on earth. Staff very friendly, professional and caring. Management and front desk very helpful and informative. Food very good -reasonable choice on the daily basis, even for picky eaters . Pure tranquility and proper retreat, away from hassle of modern life. Rustic style, authentic, elegant and beautiful. Amazing house reefs, even for not great swimmers, breathtaking lagoon .pure retreat .great for anyone who is searching for peace , while surrounded by nature. Most definitely highly recommend.
