Hotel Tropical Sands Dominical

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Tropical Sands in Dominical! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach, but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded. The beautiful garden surrounding the property creates a beautiful, tropical atmosphere that makes it easy to relax with lots of seating and hammocks around. My room was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed for a great stay. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to offer recommendations for tours or help with anything I needed. There’s also a communal kitchen to cook your own meals! If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay in Dominical that still keeps you close to all the action, Hotel Tropical Sands is a perfect choice. I’d definitely stay here again!

OK, but very dated rooms I stayed here just one night while passing through, and it was ok but I don’t think I would stay here again. The property garden and grounds were nice but the rooms were incredibly dated. On check in there was a mix up with my booking which apparently someone had inexplicably moved to the next day, the room I booked wasn’t available, luckily they had another room to put me in, but this took some time to sort out and wasn’t ideal. Also be aware that they only take cash, no credit card or other payments, which is annoying and the only place I stayed in Costa Rica like this. For 1 night it wasn’t a big deal, but for a long stay this could be a challenge. Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again

Just had an absolutely wonderful stay at Tropical Sands. The owners, Amy and Ken, set a great tone and the staff follow their laid back yet friendly, helpful, and attentive way. Marta, Loren, and Claire are welcoming and interesting people. The hotel setting is really cool. Walking through the gate you’re transported to a jungle vibe with birds chirping and amazing vegetation that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a rain forest despite being adjacent to the beach and a short walk to the town center. The restaurant across the street quickly became a favorite. The rooms are efficient and exceptionally clean. Looking forward to staying there again.

The hotel has a good location but the AC wasn't working, we switched room and the mattresses were old and uncomfortable . The commun fridge and kitchen are also old and a little dirty... very stinky dogs that come staring at you while you eat makes eating there a little unpleasant even though it's nice to cook food. The prices in Costa Rica for food is insane. The owner hire unpaid staff in exchange for accommodation, the ones that were there at the time were very nice.

Very nice hotel, rooms were clean and beds super comfortable. Staff was super friendly and accommodating, would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great place to stay in Dominical. Within walking distance of the beach and downtown.
