The Old Tea House

My wife and I have used B&B's all over the country and this was -One of the Best . We had never been to Dorchester and now wish we had been before. The Old Tea House is a historic building as you might expect. Location -central Dorchester. No on site parking but very reasonably priced local authority car park 2 mins walk away. There are only 2 rooms to let as far as we know .We chose the lovely suite which had a nicely furnished sitting room ,bedroom with 4 poster and ensuite bathroom. Bed was super comfortable. Debby is the owner and provided great service along with her son Jon and her grandson. Beware they can both chat for England but are very informative about the building and locality and service is great including an excellent breakfast. The building is obviously listed and so modernisation would be limited. Quaint is probably the best description. Complaints?-none really. The room got a little cool but nothing to complain about and rather than have expensive central heating switched on a couple of freestanding electric heaters are provided. One can be used for cooling in summer. The bathroom can probably be described as 'tired' -perfectly clean but could do with a little attention .Taking a shower is a bit of a palaver without flooding the floor but not a big issue. As the name suggests in addition to several previous uses over its 400years and current B&B it is a Tea House and we did have an excellent Cream Tea one afternoon. Value for money ? Very reasonable. We will go back
