Aldrich Guest House

This is a glowing review! The Aldrich house is GORGEOUS and we enjoyed spending time in different areas on the property; the potting shed for movies was a fun hangout. The rooms are beautiful and the most comfortable bed and bedding. Location is a convenient 15 minute walk to downtown. Robert and Douglas are a DELIGHT! They made our stay and anniversary so special - with evening drinks & snack, superb breakfast, engaging conversations, and thank you cards at the end of our stay are just SOME of their special touches. They are a wealth of knowledge and will provide you with wonderful recommendations to make the most out of your visit. Their hospitality is UNMATCHED! THANK YOU ROBERT AND DOUGLAS!!!!!!!!

Our recent visit to the Aldrich House was our first ever stay at a bed and breakfast. What a unique and exciting experience it was! The innkeepers, Robert and Douglas, have done a remarkable job of refinishing a stately historic house at a site which is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The home features enticing common areas, a spacious dining room, and a delightful screened in porch which overlooks a beautifully landscaped yard. Food and drink were wonderful. The innkeepers were gracious and hospitable throughout our time together. No detail with respect to the comfort and well-being of their guests was too insignificant to merit special attention. Their status as one of the premier bed and breakfast establishments in the nation is justly deserved.

Robert and Douglas are masters among us when it comes to hospitality and making us always feel welcome and comfortable. It is always a wonderful experience to stay at Aldrich, from the home made breakfast to the from-scratch cookies. It’s our second home, and we always cherish our stays.

We loved our stay at the Aldrich house. The rooms are beautiful, the location is convenient and the hosts have seen to every detail. They could write the book on how to run a B&B! Be sure to ask Robert for recommendations on places to eat and things to do. We loved everything he suggested: the Magic show, Fritz & Frite, pizza at Cannova's and the hike at Witkowsky State Wildlife Area (almost as good as Schurmeier Forest ☺️).

Robert and Douglas are the wonderful hosts. They provide a very warm and peaceful environment for our stay. Tasty and healthy breakfasts and delicious cocktails added more joys to our trip in Galena. I enjoyed the time chatting with them and the house guests during our stays. Excellent!!!

From the time we arrived until we left, the experience was wonderful. We were contacted prior to our arrival to see if we had any questions and get an arrival time so the owners could meet us. When we arrived, we were greeted with an introduction and tour of the accommodations along with a history of the house. Rooms were very nice and bed and sheets were very comfortable. Wine and cheese get together was fun in the evening and great breakfast with all the guests. The owners were very accommodating in every aspect. The location was quiet, and you could walk across the pedestrian bridge to downtown Galena. Would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone. Definitely 5 Star accommodations.
