The Inn at Whitewing Farm

I contemplated writing this review, since the inn and the owners were great, and I generally write great reviews, because I feel establishments deserve recognition, but in this instance, I was disappointed that based on our experience that the owners did not feel it necessary to reimburse us something for our inconvenience. We booked two nights, end of February, in the Clydesdale Suite. The room was beautiful, but our first night, we encountered a mouse crawling out of our garbage can. It then proceeded to crawl under the fireplace. My husband found the owner, who placed two mouse traps in our room. At midnight, the one trap went off under the fireplace. After several minutes, there was silence. At 1:08 am, the mouse in the trap began to move again, causing a disturbance. At 1:20 am, the other trap went off. I assumed the first mouse got out of the trap and made its way across the room and landed in the second trap. Needless to say, I was exhausted the next day. In the morning, both traps contained mice, which we placed outside our door. At breakfast, I asked the owner to reset the traps, but that did not happen. Therefore, the second night was just as disturbing, because I was unsure if more mice would appear in the room. My husband and I take a few long weekends a year to get away from work and unwind. This was not a relaxing getaway, and for the price we paid to stay at the Inn At Whitewing Farm, I was extremely disappointed that due to us beingunderstanding, the owners did not feel the need to reimburse us for any of our stay. As much as I wanted to love this place, my husband and I will not be returning.

Bit of advice - book early! The property fills on the weekends for good reason. We had a lovely stay - Hackney Suite was great, bedding clean soft and comfortable. An added bonus was the gas fireplace. The bathroom was beautiful and shower hot and great water pressure. The property is in a great location, easy travel to Longwood, Kennett Square, antique shops etc. Breakfast was a bit carb heavy but really tasty none the less! A nice touch was a beverage & snack station in the “hay barn” with an ice machine. The only tiny bit of trouble we had was not being certain where to check in - I guess I’m a little cautious and didn’t want to intrude where I shouldn’t so that’s on me. I would love to stay again in the summer to make use of the pool or near the holidays!

What a great experience!! The room was very comfortable and the bed/bedding was great. Felt so comfortable and so much like home, only better. Loved the grounds, peacefulness and serenity. The breakfast was outstanding. The surrounding area offers so much to do including the Brandywine Art Museum with its extraordinary Wyeth collection and the plentiful gardens to explore. We will definitely be coming back.

This was our third visit to Whitewing Farm as we have celebrated our Wedding anniversary several times there in the past. We have enjoyed our stay each and every time. Should you choose to do the dinner for two in the wine cellar, you will not be disappointed.

We really enjoyed our stay at Whitewing Farm. The staff were gracious and friendly. They had great information on local places to both eat at and visit. The breakfast was stellar and eating on our deck. The room delivery was appreciated as was delivery of tickets to Longwood Gardens.

The room was a good size and the bathroom was new and very nice. The arm chairs needed some reading lamps and maybe a side table. The breakfast was ridiculously slow … 45 min to be served plus it started at 9am. It sort of ruined the whole experience. I wished I had skipped the breakfast.
