"Xanatseni is in a league of it’s own for customer service and friendliness. A small operation compared to the one that I had just come from, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It truly put meaning to Quality over Quantity. The rooms were elegantly decorated and kept very clean. The main area where you eat and can hang out was comfortable and welcoming. Mornings included a coffee bar (available all day) and there was always the “Honesty Bar” (you take a drink and write it down under your room and they add it up at the end and put on your tab). The food! Every single thing I tried here was so delicious! In the US, we use so many seasoning and salt…this food just had flavor and was so good. I didn’t get to meet who was cooking, but Faith and Experience (our meal hosts) were always there to make sure we were happy with everything and make sure no one had any dietary restrictions or requests. Plenty of good food to get you through the day! The thing that made Xanatseni stand out the most…the staff! I feel like I have new friends! Teneil was our host. From the second I got out of my transfer vehicle; she was right there with a smile on her face (and drink in hand). We had so many fun conversations. Danie, our guide, had me laughing all the time! Not only was she full of great facts and information about the animals and surrounding area, she had the best personality! Sidney, our tracker, always had a smile on his face and a dance on the front of the vehicle. One of my absolute favorite things about staying here was that the staff hung out with you. They ate afternoon meals with you and if you wanted, they sat around after dinner and enjoyed a fire and some drinks with you! It really made me feel at home. Even the resident animals here made for fun stories! Kinga the elephant, Covid the Rhino and Jeffrey the Hyena made sure to swing by and say hi while I was there! I cannot wait to come back to Xanatseni and see all my friends again!"

"I was truly appalled by the service I received at reception at The Capital Mbombela. I had driven all the way there to arrange a pleasant weekend - staycation which was booked months in advance and was met with rudeness and disrespect from the receptionist. I asked for early check-in for the following day, but she rudely informed me that there were no bookings Thursday at the penthouse, and that I wouldn’t be able to get early check-in should anyone check in. I requested that she gives me a call in the morning to confirm if my request could be granted , so I make necessary arrangements , but she had the audacity to tell me that I wasn’t the only client and that I needed to call her and find out, she has million other things to do and she’s the only one on duty. How’s that my problem? She even said that if I couldn’t do that then there was nothing she could do. When I drove all the way to make the arrangement? Is this how the capital treats its customers?"

"A good lodge, a solid C-star. Large grounds, a pool (cold), a small gym, a bar, and a restaurant. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and there were no mosquitoes in May. Breakfasts are decent, but you have to ask for coffee every time. Drinks are generally scarce. Cons: It's hard to hear (the doors are thin, not the walls). They periodically forget to change the water (they bring it upon request). P.S. The steaks in the restaurant are terrible. Safaris from the park can be booked through the park office (cheaper, but the cars and groups are the same). Private safaris from the lodge are good. Cons:"
