Residence Inn Columbia

My room was spacious and clean. I liked the layout.

I specifically selected the Marriott Residence – Columbia because my three sons and I are all over 6 feet tall and 180+ pounds and 2 of us sharing a bed only works with king size beds. I would have booked elsewhere with bigger beds or individual rooms had I known the “king” beds were smaller at the Marriott Residence - Columbia. The sheets on our beds were marked “Q” for Queen (see attached), the bed dimensions were 72W X 79.5L (see attached) and a standard king size bed is 76W X 80L (see attached). Now you may think that 4 inches is nothing but when you’re exhausted after a long day, it is very uncomfortable trying to relax and get to sleep in a crowded bed. I think it is disingenuous, even fraudulent, to advertise king size beds when they are clearly smaller. What I've learned from hotel staff is that the beds are actually "Hotel Kings" which are indeed smaller than a standard king. Why doesn’t Marriott state in its room descriptions that it’s a “Hotel King” size bed and not a standard king? Just proves that Marriott's advertising is not accurate and certainly misleading.

Rooms were very comfortable and clean. I like having the bedroom in a separate room from the living room. The breakfast was continental with a few hot items thrown in. The food was good. There is an outside sitting area which is nice when the weather is good.

The rooms are very nice and spacious and the staff is friendly. I honestly would have given it a 5 star rating however, this is a large property and there is one tiny laundry room on only the second floor. This is an extended stay hotel but there are only 2 washers for hundreds of rooms. On top of that, it is $3 to wash your cloths and another $3 to dry them!
