Hotel Ploes

Good friends recommended this hotel and sent lovely pictures, but fully anticipating that pictures usually represent a favorable aspect and reality is never so fetching, I set off to Syros and the Hotel Ploes. Alas! It was stunning and in no way could any picture capture the beauty of the views, the hotel itself and its surroundings. That was the physical impression it makes for which words are not enough. The Ploes stay includes a fantastic breakfast with an incredible assortment of dishes, bread , fresh juice and fruits that is tastebud and eyesight delight! All of this coordinated, cooked served and cared for by a small, friendly, attentive staff that are there to serve you hut not hover around you impertinently. From the owners to the chambermaids everyone gives you a smile. There is a salon filled with books on art! Had I just been told that, it would have enticed me to visit. The balconies to sit in, the small, fully equipped gym with a view of the Aegean that will inspire you and rooms ample, harmoniously decorated yet eclectic. Mine even included a hammam that I was too afraid to turn on! Reservations to restaurants, tours, taxis, etc. are made for you with suggestions to times, best places to suit your tastes and desires. OK, I’ll leave it at that…Supercalifragilisticly good!

We have to disagree with superlatives. For sure, this is a nice hotel, in a beautiful and tasteful house. We had a nice upper room, with every comfort. The breakfast is very good, with a lot of choice. And the breakfast times are wonderful, until 1 PM, so you can have a nice and leisurely brunch. And the island and the town are really lovely. For us, it was certainly not a rating 5 however, rather between 3 and 4. The hotel is not cheap at all. The welcome was OK, but the information we got about restaurants was in a rush and hardly understandable, names of restaurants hand written on a map and hardly readable. They give you a small printed paper with opening hours of a few sights/museums. For two of them the hours/day were incorrect, whereas the internet sites were fully reliable. Would it be too much to organise a pick up for free at the port? In the end it costs only a couple of euros, but it is about a gesture. We stayed 6 nights and had to leave 1 night early for personal reasons. No reimbursment, no gesture. Of course, this is completely in line with the policy and conditions, no complaint about that. But would it be too much to do a gesture, and reimburse one breakfast (not taken), or give the couple of beers we had in the bar for free? By the way, the cancellation policy of this hotel is extremely severe. We had to pay 50% at reservation (many months ago), and 50% one month before arrival. It was fully in line with the conditions, and the client has the choice to book or not. But we are very experienced travellers, we always book flexible rates for personal reasons, but this hotel simply did not offer that. For us, it is every nice place, but it felt as if money counts for the for the management in the first place. We will probably return to Syros one day, but not sure to that hotel. We have many experiences where a commercial gesture was given in a much more proactive and friendly way.

What a fantastic stay. A great location about 10 mins walk from the ferry port. The building is beautiful, great room with A/C, fantastic views, and a very nice café on site. The best thing is the staff, so pleasant and kind. Very helpful in every aspect of our visit. We were treated with some wine for our anniversary and each day they expressed genuine interest in whether we had a good day. It felt like home, can't wait to get back

A splendid experience that goes beyond the usual hotel stay in Ermoupolis. Ploes is an art palazzo with a rare view to the Aegean from a serene side of the island's capital. It was from this terrace, where we'd have breakfast every morning. We stayed at a fantastic, beautifully ornamented room marveling at the paintings and artwork at each corner of the hotel. The center was a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The owners were wonderful. We had an unforgettable time there!

We loved everything about this beautiful property. It's a beautiful Neo Classical building which has been renovated to the highest standards. The location could not have been better, only 5 minutes walk from the centre of town, the suites very spacious and the bathrooms a decent size with separate walk-in shower and Apivita bathroom amenities. The wonderful art around the property is very well curated. The a la carte breakfast which was of excellent quality with fresh ingredients and a very good selection of items was enjoyed on the large terrace overlooking the blue Aegean Sea. If we were to return to Syros this would be our first choice because Lia, the owner who is an exceptional host together with her Team especially Anna, made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

From the time we arrived the experience and service from Lea, Anthe, Ana, Vivi and the team was exceptional. The hotel is a magnificent building with a terrace overlooking the Aegean sea. The white room was huge, beautifully appointed with beautiful ceiling and artwork, a magnificent chandelier and detail. We were greeted with a drink, a warm welcome and explanation of the hotel and suggestions for what to do in Syros. The magnificent breakfasts are made to order by lovely Vivi with exceptional produce and served with warmth by lovely Ana on the beautiful terrace. Would highly recommend
