The Grade Two listed former Manor House of Painters which lent its name to our village. Recently teased back to its historic best, showing the original additions of its custodians over its 500 year history. The house has many quirky features that have been left as found, from the nooks, creaks and the crackles in original plaster work. Sometimes used as a film and photographic location furnished with an eclectic array of props and furnishings that set it apart from the usual country house stay. Just along our lane is The Alma , a traditional Kentish ale house, family run and offering great food throughout the year both inside and in the beer garden. The house has a large twelve seater dining table beside the inglenook fire, great for gatherings. Walks are on our doorstep with orchards, open fields and Faversham creekside all easily accessible. The one acre gardens have two firepits stacked with logs and a large BBQ area coals supplied. Little Owl Cottage is set in the landscaped gardens of a 15th century farmhouse in the Hamlet of Throwley Forstal. The cottage has been refurbed and extended for late 2019. Beautiful views over-looking fields from the private, fully fenced, suntrap patio area which has a table and chairs as well as a couple of sun loungers. The well insulated interior has been fitted with quality fixtures and fittings throughout including a luxury sofa-bed to sleep 2.There are a selection of games and books available in the property. You have secure off road private parking and your own path to the cottage.The open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area is a lovely space in which to relax comfortably in a modern, warm and considered space. It is a 5 minute walk into the historic town of Faversham where you will find the famous Shepherd Neame brewery offering tours. You have a large choice of Shepherd Neame pubs or micro pubs. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, including Mexican, Indian, Chinese, and a kebab restaurant. Faversham is historic not only for its brewery but for its fishing lakes, markets, gunpowder works, and bird watching down harty ferry. If you're into your golf, there is a golf course within a 10 minute drive away called Boughton Golf Club.
