CGH Résidence Boutique le Centaure

Overall a good stay. Hope this review helps. The accommodation is in a great location. It's very close to the centre of town and the bars and supermarket. It's described as "ski in and ski out" so I wanted to cover this. On one of the the photos you can see the door to the lockers and the route to the snow. even in spring conditions it's very close to "Ski-in" and with more snow would be 100%. There are two red runs that come to the door, Satan and Azurite. Both are steep, but the second is easier. One the second photo I'm on Azurite and Satan joins from the right. The skier with the yellow trousers is standing at the entrance to the accommodation. "Ski out" is actually an uphill trudge of a couple of minutes (to where this same skier is standing) before you can click-in. You have 90 minutes of free parking right next to the block for unloading and loading Men, read the other reviews and make sure you bring speedo type trunks !! The spa is good quality. CGH describe this as "5-star" accommodation and I have some minor reservations about this claim : - In a five star accommodation, I don't expect to have to count the teaspoons and submit the paper work (a full inventory is required). - There are two main elevators serving many apartments and one remains broken. Other reviews state this has been broken for some time. - A room for 6 with two bathrooms should have more than one WC - Just some advice if CGH really want to impress..... Truly 5-star would have porter staff for your luggage. Self catering skiing involves masses of luggage. Juggling all this, up to the 7th floor, along with other guests, after a long drive, all vying for that same single elevator leaves you hot and sweaty.

Bonjour, Pendant notre séjour nous avons pu profiter de la piscine avec les enfants; des bains bouillonnants, hammam, sauna entre femmes. Tout était impeccable. Ce jour, j’ai réalisé un massage de 60 min avec Joséphine, c’était parfait. Tout ce que j’avais besoin pour finir mon séjour. Je recommande +++++

Appartements non prêts à 17h, il a fallu attendre 1h de plus assis par terre dans le hall surchargé en attendant... De récupérer un appartement au ménage plus que douteux++, un wifi non fonctionnel, Poubelle cassée etc.. Cerise sur le gâteau, ascenseurs en panne, depuis plusieurs semaines... Avec 7 étages... Et un seul fonctionnel sur toute la résidence !! À fuir+++ Aucune compensation proposée par la direction.... Assurément notre dernier séjour au centaure... Qui se targue d être passé en 5 étoiles cette année...

Overall, this was reasonable quality accommodation for the price. The apartment was clean although a little dusty, but the kitchen, bathroom and toilet were spotless. The supply of a little cleaning kit for the kitchen was much appreciated. You have to fill in an inventory of equipment which some reviewers have commented on, but in our experience it took five minutes and personally we thought this was a good idea as it makes sure guests look after the stuff in the apartment. It was a bit tricky at the start as there was no kettle, and being English we wanted to make a cuppa so had to resort to using a pan to boil water, but that was no real hardship. If you're arriving after reception closes, make sure to call the hotel to let them know. The lovely person on reception waited for us to arrive as our transfer was a bit late, which was really kind of her. If you are late, there are two little wooden boxes at the front of the entrance that are for late arrivals and one of those is the key safe. The beds are very comfortable and clean, and there was a plentiful supply of towels as well as bathrobes and slippers to use if you want to take advantage of the really lovely pool and sauna / steam rooms, which is available for free if you stay at this apartment. The 'rule' about men's swimming shorts that other reviewers have commented on wasn't enforced at all as far as we could see; lots of men were using swimming shorts. The gym is quite basic but functional, with some decent weights and plenty of cardio machines. It's also worth mentioning that the hotel don't own the swimming pool / gym etc, so it's a bit unfair of people to be complaining about any shortcomings of that facility in a review of Le Centaure. If you're new to skiing, it's worth mentioning that navigating your way out of the locker rooms down to the slopes is a bit of a nightmare; there are 41 stone steps (we know because we had to slog up and down them in ski boots several times a day!) to get from the locker rooms to the front of the hotel. You can ski out from the locker rooms but it's quite a perilous slope if you're not an accomplished skier. The apartments are well-placed for the Sherpa supermarket and the bars and restaurants, as well as the ski schools and equipment places. All the rooms face onto the Forum itself which is lovely as you get great views. There are plenty of lifts and a decent gondola which never got too crowded while we were there, but we were not staying during school holidays so suspect it might be different during holiday time. Overall, this is a basic but clean and functional place to stay if your focus is skiing, as there's nothing much to do if you're not skiing all day. If you're new to Flaine, the free shuttle bus runs like clockwork and takes you up to the other levels including right at the top of the slope from which you can do some stunning walks with spectacular views. It's a very nice place and well-situated.

Nous avons été au spa, c’est un magnifique endroit cependant, les serviettes ne sont pas fournis et je n’ai jamais vu sa autre part, de plus les eaux sont trop froides et le thermomètre en forme de canard ne fonctionnait pas donc nous n’avons pas pu voir la température du jacuzzi

Terrible beds. Terrible showers. Terrible cleaners/ Management that charged me and my family £80 for picking up towels that were neatly placed in the bathroom. Large staircase leading up to reception isn’t great after a days skiing! Wouldn’t recommend for beginners.
