We visited many places on the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon, but Ischia and the Botania Relais & Spa was by far our favorite destination. We spent 6 days there (after extending because of flight issues) and could have easily stayed longer we liked it so. much. When our initial room (which featured a large roof deck that felt too spacious for just the two of us) didn't quite match our preferences, the staff graciously relocated (AND upgraded!) us to accommodations better suited to our taste—no fuss, no hassle, just a sincere desire to make us comfortable. We loved the vibrant tiled bathroom and serene patio with dappled light and olive trees. The large wardrobes with plenty of hangers. The extremely comfortable bed with lovely Italian lines. I do with there were some table lamps in the room (as opposed to only overhead and wall sconces) but this wasn't a deal breaker. The property itself is a tranquil, verdant paradise with meandering walking paths and 'hidden' stone stairways. It's very hilly which is something to keep in mind (we loved it but less mobile folks might prefer to be whisked around in one of their golf carts). We loved the secluded hilltop area with two thermal pools and a sauna with an incredible view—and spent hours up there. Despite having no initial plans to use the spa facilities, a conversation with Nadia-- amazing-- at the spa reception changed my mind. Her expertise convinced me to book a massage and facial with Melania—an experience so exceptional that I immediately scheduled another session when we extended our stay. Indulgent yes but wow, was it worth it. We also had an unforgettable dinner at Mirto - the Michelin starred vegetarian restaurant on the property. The entire staff took so much pride in connecting with guests and making them feel comfortable. Onofrio at the bar, Niko at the restaurant, Carlo, Martin and many others—each contributed to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel at home. The hotel happily made restaurant reservations for us, arranged taxis when required, and provided complimentary shuttles to two locations in nearby towns. While our Amalfi hotel offered stunning luxury, it was almost too formal for us at this time. We felt much more at home at Botania -- which felt like the perfect combination of laid-back luxury and warm, attentive (but not too attentive!) service. If we had to mention anything that wasn't perfect (and this is entirely subjective), the pool music occasionally leaned toward generic American pop (or covers of American pop) that didn't quite match the setting—we much preferred it when they switched to Brazilian instrumental music or old school jazz. Additionally, the grotto bar had a noticeable cleaning product smell that prevented us from enjoying its interior space. These minor observations aside, Botania Relais & Spa has totally captured our hearts and we cannot wait to return!
