Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan Resort

Abandon and sad! We stopped here on our cruise and had to get a taxi after our excursion was cancelled, only to get here and had to walk a long way to have them tell us to walk back to get a day pass! Most of the buildings look abandoned and not maintained. So disappointing!!! So, just pass on Freeport! It was $60 for a taxi for three people and another $100 to get into a beach to only stay two hours! Nothing free in Freeport and the people are not helpful!

Its a paradise. The location of the hotel is great with great view of the turquoise blue sea, white sand, big swimming pool over looking the beach. Nice room, new buffet service and good ambience. had a lovely stay with scon crew for few days. would love to visit again some day.

Came as a group of 8 (4 bedrooms) and paid 2000$ per bedroom for all-inclusive. Zero information given at check in, but I was expecting to have some information in the bedroom, again nothing informative in the bedroom either. I had to go to reception to ask timings of bar, restaurants and what's included in the package. The receptionist explained very quickly, didn't even bother to write all the information down or give a brochure (apparently they don't have any). Just mentioned about some items in the bar not being included in the package without specifying which items. Turned out it only depended on who was behind the bar as some days we've been served a full range of different drinks and some days were not included, leaving us very confused. The hotel was basically empty, there must've been no more than 30 people (including our group of 8) and incredibly overstaffed (3-4 people behind the bar, 4-5 waiters in the restaurant all the time) so that you can expect a more attentive and personalised service, but no. Staff was often on the phone, sitting down during service (someone snoozing at the restaurant host desk!) never enquired about our stay in 6 days, management completely absent (I'm not sure about a lady in the restaurant being the manager as she was doing nothing during the whole restaurant service if not sitting down at the host, let alone checking about quality of food and service satisfaction, real shame if that lady was actually the manager) At the pool bar, the bar team keeps you waiting while "busy" cleaning surfaces, even if it's only you there ordering. I once ordered 4 cocktails and 4 beers, the cocktails arrived after 15 minutes because the bartender kept making drinks to random guests without following a queue/order, and had to wait another 10 minutes for the beers as the bartender kept ignoring my order and prepared drinks for other guests just arrived at the bar. They closed the main restaurant and outside patio for a private event leaving the resort guests with nowhere to stay when a thunderstorm arrived on our 3rd day. Had to spend the whole afternoon closed in my bedroom. I tried to contact the hotel to discuss my stay but their email doesn't work, meaning that not only no one enquired about the stay (which is the pillar of hospitality industry) but they don't even want to discuss anything further to avoid compensation/discount/refunds. They're happy to take your hard worked money (for a holiday that was supposed to be a dream come true for the whole group, turned out to be a nightmare), but not keen to discuss the incredible lack of customer service and poor quality of the structure, staff and management. Probably because they are aware of it and not willing to make it right for the disappointed guests. My boyfriend and I just got back from a one week vacation at the Lighthouse Pointe resort. We originally booked with this resort as it seemed like a great deal. After we made our booking, we read some of the reviews....and were a little worried. We went with lower expectations and agreed to make the best of it. Well, we were pleasantly surprised! The staff were friendly and attentive, the food choices were limited, however, the food was very good. Highly recommend the guava BBQ wings that you can get from the Pizza place. They make their own pizza dough on site so order early as it takes time. The Queen conch fritters from the Wave Bar are also very good! Bring your own larger cooler mug to the bar to keep your drinks cold. The beach is beautiful and the gym is good too and not many people used it so we had the place to ourselves everyday. We learned that the area was hit hard by hurricanes and they are doing their best to recover. Our room was nice with no issues. A couple of other recommendations; bring lots of $1 USD as they're good for tips at the bar and restaurant. We also booked a private tour for $66 USD each for 2.5 to 3 hours with a person recommended by the resort whose name is Fabien. You can book through the resort. What an excellent tour!!! Cultural Food tour is how I would describe it. We went to a bunch of local spots for conch salad and conch fritters, cane sugar and coconut tarts and more... Very nice guy! Tell him Pamela and Matt from Canada sent you :) you won't be disappointed. Overall, our trip was good and the resort staff made us feel very welcome.

I wanted to love it, couldn't wait to leave I desperately wanted to love our stay at the property as we visited many years ago on a day pass and it was beautiful. We are empathetic and understanding of the fact that the hurricane damaged the property. Outside of the absolutely gorgeous view by the pool and beach, this property is lacking what we were looking for. We did not purchase all inclusive (thank god), the food and drink options were minimal and subpar quality. Most of the resort is shut down and there are many electrical hazards all over the property. When we visited the Prop Club we were the only two people there. It was sad, apocalyptic. Lack of entertainment - we found overselves leaving the resort constantly for food and something to do. The worst was the room. We had to empty a dehumidifier several times a day. Another electrical hazard, an improperly rated light fixture above the shower. The room smelled of must and mildew and the bed and pillows were hard as a rock. I honestly couldn't wait to leave. Some of the workers (our bellman and concierge) were wonderful, others seemed annoyed to serve us. I highly suggest you heed caution when reading 10 star reviews on this site or otherwise. The pictures online are very misleading and dont depict current conditions or availability of activities and food. I hope the resort can turn it around when they are purchased by a new owner, so much opportunity here.
