Masons Arms

We booked a table for 2 well in advance requesting a quiet table as it was a date night. When we arrived we waited at the bar for what seemed an eternity before even being acknowledged by a member of staff, when she did eventually speak to us we were told to go and find a table and the waitress would take our drinks order. It soon became obvious that they had not reserved us a table at all and offered us a slap dash one next to the bar, when asked if they had even reserved us a table the girl looked vacant and just said no. We then waited ages for our drinks to arrive despite the bar being quiet. This was meant to be a special night out for us and we couldn’t have felt more invisible. We will obviously not be returning.

Warm welcome from the 3 young men who seemed to be running the place! Meals did take quite a long time to come, offered to do chicken breasts, so think these were cooked to order, beef was ok, obviously pre-cooked/sliced and quite well done and despite being served with gravy over, was cold (I had already heard someone else say the same) roast potatoes were lovely and plentiful and lots of veg. We weren’t offered dessert when they’d cleared our mains, when asked they did then take our orders but came back to say the oven was switched off so they could only do ice cream!! Really?! It was 3pm on a Sunday and there were other tables still eating their mains!! Unfortunately this has put us off returning as this was very poor customer service, we’d come out (and pre-booked!) for a full Sunday lunch! And the irony of it all, there was a sign above our table saying to leave room for dessert!!
