"Located about 5km from the centre but easily accessible by local bus. Airport bus stop directly outside hotel. Decent breakfast. Rooms a little old and some rooms smell musty. Feels a bit like a package holiday hotel but reasonable value for money. First time I’ve ever seen a hotel place an extra charge for using an in-room safe."

"Very nice room, 100% clean, very well decorated, a wonderful balcony, modern and very practical shower stall. We were very well received, with great friendliness, breakfast in a beautiful space and excellent food, always very well attended to. "The location is good, but since it's on a main avenue, there are many motorcycles passing by at night. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with construction work in a building next door, and at 8:00 AM they were already working with jackhammers. In any case, the hotel is poorly soundproofed, and you can hear a lot of noise from the rooms next door. The bathroom needs renovation. It still has a bathtub with a curtain. Breakfast is good! And overall, the hotel has a good presentation."

"The hotel is located just outside of old Funchal which was about 10 minutes drive away. There are lots of good restaurants near by and nearest beach is appropriately 7-10minutes walk down from the hotel. Good breakfast options. Nice location for a sunset view from the outdoor pool area."

"A traditional hotel approx half an hour walk to the Old Town but with steep hill so might not suit older person to walk. Room was spacious with large balcony and had fabulous views of the sea and garden. Room cleaned daily, very comfortable bed & lovely hot shower. Continental breakfast, had to eat inside as there were pigeons on the patio. Joes bar on the premises & an English bar across the road. Got the airport bus, €6.50 each & got off at stop 10. Would stay here again."

"We stayed here at the Vila Baleira Residence at the end of March 2026. Our Deluxe room was much smaller than we expected, they looked larger in the pictures on the Jet2 website. But it was all very clean, however there was a constant unpleasant smell coming from bathroom, again but very clean otherwise. Also one of the relaxing chairs on the balcony was broken and the cords were tied. As with the previous review the cutlery and utensils in the kitchen were sparse and there were only 4 hangers in the wardrobe and no other storage space for clothes i.e draws. We had to leave some clothes in our suitcases on the floor. We had a problem with the safe, we couldn't open it, but a helpful fella from Reception sorted it out for us. The breakfast choice was limited but fresh and plentiful. The breakfast waitress Paula was lovely, very attentive and efficient. We really missed her on her days off as the male waiter wasn't as efficient. It was a 2mile walk to the Town, it is quite hilly so we would have a Bolt back to the Hotel after a meal and glass of wine which cost just under 5 euros. There is a Lido close by with natural sea pools and sun loungers and umbrellas available to hire for 15 euros per day. We loved Madeira and will go back one day."
