Admittedly, we had some reservations about this property because of another experience at a Residence Inn, but we were quite pleased here. This is a garden style property (3 story) close to three other Marriott flag hotels and the Rio/Washingtonian Center retail-restaurant- entertainment development. There are probably 20+ restaurants within a 1/2 to 3/4 mile walk or drive. The rooms are large with a kitchen area, living room area and bedroom area. All open to each other. The kitchen offers basic equipment and a full size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Do not expect Ritz level luxury here, but it serves it's purpose. Small complaint, but easily resolved...the bar soap was terrible. It never lathered up and only fell apart into small little slivers. So, your face, upon using the soap, had small white pieces and no suds. Please continue offering bar soap, but try a different brand or supplier. And now some suggestions for the design people at Marriott HQ planning a future Residence Inn: 1. There are no pull off areas at each building to load and unload. This means that when checking in and out for our bldg (B) and others, one either had to double park, park at the entrance lane (dangerous because of incoming traffic in our case) or block parked cars. Every building needs a curbside place to pull over and unload/load. No buildings had that. Too late for G'burg though. 2. Parking is very unbalanced, so that unless your room is near the back (closer to I- 270) it's tough to park near your room/building. We usually parked behind the pool and lobby building near the Interstate. Not a major issue, but a better site plan might have eased the issue. 3. We both felt that the elevators were oddly located within the building, but I have no solution to this one. Overall, we enjoyed our one week stay. We will likely stay here again. Good location, reasonably priced, spacious rooms.
