Premier Inn Skipton North (Gargrave)

This hotel does not come up to Premier Inn usual high standard. Externally the hotel looks fine but inside it has been allowed to become shabby and run down. We were allocated a room initially which we had to refuse as the sheets were clearly damp. Another room was prepared for us but even this was in poor decor. Only one set of towels was present and even after raising this we were only given one additional hand towel. We had booked a meal deal for the two nights but as there was only the bare bones of a temporary menu available we cancelled the evening meals. Breakfast was available and was cooked to order. The restaurant appears to be in a closed pub and there was no bar open. All very run down and in separate building to the hotel. None of this comes anywhere near to the usual Premier Inns Service we have enjoyed in the past.

What can I say disgusting! Smell of strong disinfectant smell like a slaughter house after cleaning! This was in the corridor and room. Took your breath away and feel it would do harm if there for any time, Also the window could not be opened. No bar for a drink . No chef for food! I felt sorry for the lovely lady on reception who I feel was embarrassed. Basically we could not stay and left to find somewhere else. The card the receptionist gave us for complaints has an Invalid email address!! Disgraceful I rang a helpline and was told to get a form from google which also did not work !what is happening people are paying money Do not keep giving them money And don’t suppose we would get any money back!!

Very disappointed to say the least, felt and looked like the hotel was getting ready to close its doors. Hotel still taking bookings for meal deal but on arrival we were told chef had not turned up for work, there were limited staff and a very Very limited menu which only took heating up. The staff I believe were embarrassed by the situation and were doing their best to accommodate hotel guests frustrstions, the reception staff taking the brunt of the complaints. Overall the stay I had was very below par for a Premier Inn.

This was our worst experience with a Premier Inn. Although the room was clean the bathroom floor was dirty with a large area of unmopped dirt that had built up in the corner. The shower had a large build up of black mould up the tiles and on the shower screen where it slid along. My husband refused to use it. The cooked breakfast was terrible. Bacon so hard it couldn't be eaten with a knife and fork. Mushrooms cooked to death. I asked for poached eggs and told not on today. We waited 15 mins for eggs only to see the chef gossiping in the bar rather than producing eggs. I had a banana with yoghurt first but half of it was black when peeled. Mainly because it was in the ice for the yoghurt! We spent our breakfast time listening to the staff complaining about pay and working conditions. Clearly an unhappy workforce. So pleased we only stayed here one night. We won't recommend it.

If this were my first visit to any Premier Inn, it would also be my last. This hotel is in dire need of some love and upgrading. We picked this particular Premier Inn as it said it had air conditioning; and as we were staying at the end of May, that was a must for us this time. The room was very basic; clean enough. Bed not the most comfortable. We were in room 7 - and there seemed to be a bedside table / shelf missing. Do Premier Inns no longer do a daily 'tidy up'? Our bins were never emptied, and the beds were never made in our 3 night stay. We did get replacement towels after requesting them at the front desk. Breakfast - meh. Continental breakfast at the buffet; but everything else was made to order. This wasn't a big deal; but when we asked for something additional later on, it felt as if we were putting the staff out. We decided to save the £22 for two adult breakfasts and eat elsewhere for the other nights. We begrudgingly paid for 'premium wifi' one night (£5 for 24 hours - 3 devices only) as we had to catch up on some work. That wifi worked a treat. The 'free wifi' was slower than a snail, and because of the location, 4G/5G was virtually nonexistent. This hotel has a lot of promise; if someone invested in sprucing the place up, I'm sure it could be lovely! In the meantime, I won't be rushing back.

We picked this hotel as it was close to a few places we wanted to visit. I was a bit unsure due to some negative feedback but still booked it anyway. Staff were all friendly, helpful, and always kept us informed of times, deals, if the food would be late or items were not on the menu. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and evening food were lovely. One downside to the restaurant is that it wasn't open from check-in time just for a drink, but I would bring my own in future. Also, thank you for the puddings (room 108).
