Stirk House Hotel

A country house hotel with an abundance of charm and ambience backed up with a great team of staff, superb restaurant, bar and lounge. What more could you possibly want!

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Staff extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Bedroom (Superior double) was absolutely spotless with everything we could possibly need. Dinner in Seasons Restaurant was superb and the breakfast was plentiful with great variety of choice and although the cooked breakfast was 'self service' the chef was on hand to assist if needed (also for a chat!). Overall no complaints and already booked our next stay :)

Service at reception and in the restaurant was excellent and the suite was perfect. We appreciated the thoughtful gift and card to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, as we were married at Stirk House in 2000. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location and on a very hot day we found the temperature indoors to be cool and pleasantly refreshing. It was a really nice stay.

Several rooms where booked with Stirk House for 19/20th Feb 26 for a wedding function which has unfortunately had to be cancelled. Deposits of £50 per room were taken at time of bookings, when cancelling the rooms we have all been informed that the deposits are non-refundable, information on their booking website states differently ie refundable upto 3 days before staying. As we cancelled so far in advance of the dates I find it unbelievable that our deposits will not be refunded. When the wedding is rearranged we will certainly be looking elsewhere.

An extremely poor hotel. Room 7 1. Mattress on bed offered no support 2. Internet connection was all but non existent 5bpms, explained to reception, several excuses wind conditions - may be an upgrade, when speed checked in reception reported as ok. 3. Although there was really good pressure at the hot & cold taps in the bathroom, an electric shower was fitted with poor performance. Excuse in reception it is a grade 11 listed building. All I need in an overnight stay when on business is a comfy bed, good internet connection and a good shower. Sorry Stirk House but an honest feedback.
