I imagined finding the hotel to be a little easier than it was. I used the recommended car parking Ave Maria Vistillas and found it very difficult to get to due to the street signs and vehicle restrictions in Granada. Once parked there is a decent walk which takes you to quite a flight of stairs serving the area of Albaicin but also providing access to hotels and b&b’s. Candil Realejo is positioned halfway up and so is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Access is provided via a pinpad and the instructions are clear and for me there was no issues. Very nice staff welcomed me my arrival and provided me the details of my room and a key. My room was on the first floor and on the corner overlooking the steps. It was dual aspect and despite having no view of the Alhambra still had nice views. The room was a good size. There was a slight smell in the bathroom area but I imagine this because it is an older property. The WiFi was good. The Alhambra is within walking distance, as are many nice shops, cafes and restaurants. Candil Suite Realejo also has a nice pool. I didn’t use it but I imagine on a hot day it’s a very welcome relief. Breakfast was served downstairs in the beautifully tiled dining room and conservatory area. For me the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. It was a continental breakfast I do recommend a stay here as long as you are aware of some of the difficulties you may encounter when accessing it.
