Gateway Inn

We totally loved our stay at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Room was rustic lodge decorated and very clean. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Views of mountains and lakes from balcony rooms are excellent. On site restaurant offers a variety of good food. Live Music every night so if you want quiet dining this isn’t the place. We had the penthouse for our group which was amazing for large gatherings. Great hotel!

Unfortunately, this was not a good stay. It was the only negative hotel experience on our 12 day adventure in Colorado. The check in staff double as bartenders at the restaurant located in the hotel lobby. They were unable to answer questions about local hikes around the lake. And the hotel did not have a “grand” view of the lake. We were given a room adjacent to the restaurant and across from the Ice Machine. We politely asked for our room to be changed. The clerk had to get the bartender who was in charge of room assignments. We again explained that we were light sleepers and the live music and ice machine would not work for us. He said they were completely booked and could not give us someone else’s room, even though we had paid for an upgraded room with a balcony. He told us that someone had to have “this” room. We then offered to accept a downgraded room at the same price as long as it had a quieter location. He finally agreed to do that after sighing his was through it. We had wasted our time. The “improved” room was dank, dark and noisy. The air conditioning unit (old under window type) sounded like a diesel truck was running all night in our room. Would NOT recommend the hotel. Rude staff and not very well appointed rooms.

We loved this hotel! What character! The room was spacious, very clean, decorated very nicely. The porch and fireplace were totally cream on the top! The bed and pillows were comfy. We loved the on-site restaurant for dinner. We were treated to a beautiful sunset, while dining on the deck! So sweet. Can’t say we enjoyed the breakfast. It was overpriced and not really outstanding. There was probably a better option for breakfast somewhere else. That said, we enjoyed our stay, and left well rested and happy.

Really nice hotel with fantastic views of Grand Lake both from the bar and restaurant and also from the bedroom that we stayed in. The room was extremely comfortable, the balcony and views were excellent and we were very happy with the hotel

Property was fine, the price was too high

I was pleasantly suprised from the moment I opened the door. Not only was the room spacious and charming, it just felt clean... and it was! The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. If I could change one thing, it would be the pillows. They are terrible!! They are like lumpy bricks. Lol. That said, I would absolutely stay here again. I have photos to add but it wont let me for some reason. Rest assured, this place is super cute and cozy!
