Mt. Plaisir Estate Hotel

This place is magic, it did not disappoint, go see for yourself..the location, the accommodation, the service, the food, the guides, the staff, the turtles, the birds etc etc Up there as a wildlife destination and we’ve been to many. Big thanks to all.

The drive to mt plaisir was enjoyable with magnificent scenery on the way The hotel is on the beach with wonderful rooms and oceanfront views I loved that each of our family members could do as they liked rest in the air-conditioning gaze out at the beach or explore the beach and river or relax in the pool The guided visit to Pawi Lodge a few minutes away was just lovely The hotel took care of organising our turtle watching experience which was emotional and fantastic Not having to worry about meals was great with excellent breakfast and good and dinner

When we arrived we were treated to welcome drink as well as a full relaxed briefing by the staff on where everything was located, what we could expect to use and what tours were available. The food was amazing and all the staff treated us a family member . They would always go out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The entire place is very well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable; especially as we had a balcony which overlooked the beach. If you wanted to see the leatherback turtles during their nesting season there is no better place to do it from this hotel. The pre-briefing to see the turtles at the Grand Riviere Visitor Centre is only 1 minute walk from the hotel. In fact the hotel is right on the beach and the first night there were 20 turtles that came up right in front of the hotel; yes we even could make out the shapes of the turtles from our balcony. At one point while watching a turtle lay their eggs, two others came up on the beach within 10 feet of the one we were observing. The respect they show the turtles are impressive with only red lights at night and only allowed to go on the beach with a guide. We also did the local cocoa tour that will surprise you with the information they provide and well as the very tasty hand made chocolate bars, hot cocoa and wines. We ended up going to “Pawi” which is a conservation area that the hotel manages to allow bird watchers to observe the different breed of birds. We were fortunate to see 5 Tucson’s, hummingbirds and other local species. I would like to thank all the staff at Mt. Plasir for making our stay very memorable and highly recommend this place if you want to have a very special experience.
