If you are considering this hotel, don't hesitate, book it! The service alone was some of the best we have ever had. The staff simply could not have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. For example my wife is dairy free and this was not only remembered by the restaurant staff at every meal (without any reminding), at the start of each meal they even gave us a hand written menu listing the menu items that could altered to accommodate. If this was not impressive enough we even found that non dairy milk had been added to our room mini fridge without asking. The hotel itself and gardens are meticulously well kept. The tasteful high quality interior fittings are kept immaculately clean. The food was all of the highest quality. It's hard to imagine a better pool and spar with the additional saunas, and exotic showers complete with coloured lighting and program specific perfumes, amazing! A special thank has to go to Harriet and Jaqueline on the front desk who truly went the extra mile. A guided tour of the hotel at check in was just the start! We visited during a bit of a heat wave (our car showed 32 degrees) and while initially offering us a lovely room without aircon they happily moved us to another room that did. If visiting during hot weather it may be worth requesting aircon in advance as not all rooms have it. A thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable, you guys set the highest standard that other hotels should follow. How this hotel is listed on Google as a three star is an absolute travesty, please ignore this rating, this hotel is five star all the way!

Such a wonderful find! We were looking to escape Colchester for a child-free night to celebrate our anniversary before the children finished school and college. Just under two hours from home, this place caught our eye; a spa, stunning setting, and glowing reviews. It ticked all the boxes. From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d made the right choice. The building is absolutely beautiful, and Kate at reception gave us a great welcome, complete with a tour of the hotel. We instantly felt at ease. We enjoyed a gorgeous light lunch on the terrace — the views were lovely, and the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly. The lunch options were spot on, fresh and satisfying without being too heavy. The afternoon was spent in the spa area, where we made full use of the pool, hot tub, sauna, experience showers, and more. Abbie on spa reception was so lovely and welcoming. The changing rooms were fantastic, with showers, hairdryers, straighteners, and plenty of lockers and fresh towels. The whole spa is well thought-out, with plenty of loungers where you can truly relax. We were lucky with the weather and spent a peaceful hour or two reading outside — it felt like we were worlds away from everyday life. Dinner was exceptional. The restaurant is airy, elegant, and relaxing. The menu was impressive, six options per course, plus daily specials. Everything sounded amazing and it was hard to choose! The food didn’t disappoint. Every dish was delicious, and the service was some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The staff here are a real credit to the hotel; attentive, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Our room, located in the main hotel, was the perfect size with tasteful furnishings and absolutely spotless. It was quite warm due to the weather, but that’s no fault of the hotel. Breakfast was just as fabulous as dinner. Fresh juices, a wide range of hot drinks, and an extensive menu with something for everyone. We took our time and enjoyed a peaceful, leisurely start to the day while admiring the gardens. We genuinely cannot wait to return. The hotel is stunning, both inside and out, retaining so many beautiful original features. There are plenty of places to sit and unwind, and every member of staff we met was outstanding. We’re already looking at dates for our next child-free escape!

My husband and I stayed for bank holiday weekend. Exemplary service throughout. The grounds are just beautiful. Formal gardens and vegetables grown on site too. Spa with a pool, lovely terrace and fantastic restaurant. Our room was small but very cute. Great linens and towels. Close to Sandringham which is really worth a visit. I would highly recommend this hotel and will hopefully return soon.

A very enjoyable stay at a comfortable hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff. We had a good sized bedroom, a king sized bed and a bathroom en suite and a view onto an attractive inner courtyard. The grounds were well kept with some remarkable older trees and the parking was close and convenient.

We really enjoyed afternoon tea at Congham Hall, the surroundings were very cosy, the tea delicious and well presented. We’d have no hesitation returning or recommending. The staff were very pleasant too. Congham is also our favourite Sunday Lunch venue.

Stayed here for just one night. I can’t fault it. From initial check in we were welcomed at reception and shown round the hotel then personally shown to our room. A beautiful room, lovely bathroom with beautiful toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. The bed was very comfortable and even though it was a really hot day, being able to have the windows open and the fan which was provided made it a pleasant room for a good night’s sleep. The spa was lovely - very clean, good facilities, lovely staff and was not too busy. Lovely touch too was the fresh milk in the fridge for the tea and home made biscuits. All in all a wonderful stay as every little detail was thought about. Beautiful decoration, polite, smart and friendly staff and a tasty hearty breakfast served efficiently and pleasantly. We will definitely be back.
