"I visited Hagi City to research Yoshida Shoin and the Meiji Restoration. Overall, the local residents are very kind. The owner and staff at Tagadai are also very friendly and welcome you warmly. Haha, I would love to come back and stay here again next time. The facilities are clean, and the rooms are traditional Japanese style. It is located right behind the Hagi City Bus Terminal, so the location is convenient, and there are large supermarkets and McDonald's nearby. I highly recommend it. Thank you to the owner. > < Haha. "We’ve spent 3 nights in this wonderful ryokan which is ideally situated to visit the numerous attractions of Hagi. We had a tatami suite opening on the beautiful garden, and was very well equipped. Delicious meals (breakfast and dinner) on both days, comfortable futons in spacious and well-appointed rooms, the most friendly and efficient service (sincere thanks to Takashi-san, our ‘butler’, but also to the entire team) and ideally located in walking distance to all Hagi’s most interesting sights. The warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality of the staff made me feel as though I was being welcomed into a family home. Staying here felt like receiving a warm embrace from a grandmother—comforting, sincere, and unforgettable. The location is equally remarkable. Situated right by the beach and surrounded by Hagi’s rich history, the ryokan offers easy access to historical landmarks while being just steps away from the beautiful samurai district. It is the perfect base for exploring one of Japan’s most charming and culturally significant towns. Hagi Ichirin provided one of the most memorable stays I have ever experienced, and I am already looking forward to returning. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

We decided on the trip a month in advance, so it was hard to find accommodation, but we managed to get a room at Hagi Travel Inn, which was a relief.
