Yala Oga Reach Hotel

Oga Reach Tissamaharama was a very comfortable hotel. Property is located near Yoda Lake and has a very spectacular view to enjoy a good holiday WITH SOME Chill. We went there to celebrate the birthday of my Father-in-law and we were given a simple cake by the hotel and they were very interested to help up us on celebrating the special day. Hotel has a nice pool and its clean as well. Rooms are clean and washrooms are clean. Value for money. Service is really good. Very pleasant team and helpful. Food was not upto standard but can manage. Overall an amazing stay. We met South Indian actor John Vijay on our stay in Oga Reach

The location is beautiful and the ambiance very relaxing. We were there to celebrate our special day. We thought that is a good choice this year because we could also visit Kataragama. When we checked-in there was no electricity in the room. So we quickly changed to temple cloths and left. It rained heavily that afternoon. When we returned to the room we found that our first floor room was flooded with water. Luckily our belongings have not got wet. It was impossible to stay in that room. The staff struggled to find us an alternative room because the hotel was full of guests that day. After sometime they shifted us to a rarely used room. It smelled and lacked amenities. So they shifted things from our wet room. The restaurant was not usable because it was wet too. They served the dinner to our room around 9pm. By that time our special day was already in tatters. The next morning they somehow dried the restaurant and served the breakfast buffet around 8 am. We quickly had our breakfast and left vowing never to return there.

We came to Lanka from Dubai and came to Oga Reach Hotel on the second day..oga reach hotel is an excellent hotel. Excellent service The room was very spacious, clean, and equipped with all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was delicious and had many choices; It was a very extensive buffet spread. The people at reception were very helpful not only at check in and check out but also with directions to places. The location is excellent - the hotel is located near a central lake.. The chef was a young man named Kaweesha who prepared delicious food for us, a very active young man. The rice and curry was delicious and the fried rice was delicious .. I will recommend to friends and will definitely stay again if I visit Kataragama again"

Nice and calm place. We loved the location. Our room were facing the beautiful lake. Room size was good and amenities including AC were perfect. Friendly staff. Special thank to the chef for preparing delicious Sri Lankan dishes in the original Sri Lankan way. We had rice and curry for diner and string hoppers for the breakfast. Meals were awesome. Location was good too since we got easy access to Yala NP safari. Would love to recommend for somebody visiting Yala NP or Katharagama sacred city.

I am really sorry for giving this review. However, I thought to do this because of the experience that we had with toddlers. - we booked a double deluxe room and a triple room. - when we arrived, they didn't know that there is a booking or what we booked. - There were no computers or reception staff. - A very young staff member noted what we said on a note book and took us to the rooms. - we were given two double rooms. Not a triple room. - we asked for a triple room. We then got shown another room. - it had an old plywood piece bed as the second single bed. (Please see the photo) - the bathroom was smelly , it smelt of urine. - they just swept the floor and gave the keys - the hotel has some overhead tanks . They overflow and wet the whole balcony. This have rotten the balcony support. Hence, you will either get wet or the balcony will come off. Please check the photos - the rooms had many insects. Yellow and red spotted millipedes, cockroaches , mosquitoes and loads of ants swarming over everything. Both todlars hads somany bites despite of the insect repellent sprays. Please check photos. - the toilet takes more than 30 minutes to fill between flushes. This means that we had to share number two's. - the hot water stops intermittently. There is no one in the hotel to ask at times, except to the two security guards. - this is located about 30 minutes from the town. However, you have to walk 15 minutes to the road to stop a tuck tuck but there are very few that you can stop. You have to get phone numbers and call. The prices very 300-600 rupees. - they don't have a food menu. Everything is verbal . They kept saying that they only have very little items. You can get very basic food at top prices. - we wanted to wash some clothes. The staff said that we can leave the clothes with them, when the people from the laundry come they will tell the price. What actually happened was , they took the clothes, washed it and gave a big bill we also had to pay a tuck-tuck driver. - when this was challenged, some identified himself as a manager told that they would have charged more than two times. When we asked why we were not given the prices before, the answer was an apology. Please view the photo for the charges. - there is no TV in the room - the lake next to the hotel has crocodiles in it. - there is nothing to see near by. You have to book a vehicle to go anywhere - the hotel never told us that we have to leave the keys to clean the rooms. When we did find out, we still had to ask for toilet tissue, some coffee sachets and everything. As a result, we left one day earlier. We did meet the general manager the day before. He was apologetic and ask to send an email with the details to him. I don't think this hotel gives a service that justified the charges

Hotel Oga Reach situated by the lake Yodakandiya Tissamaharama offers stunning views . Hotel staff is friendly and food is good . The spacious rooms with quality bedding and a great view added to the experience. The pool is also very nice and has an excellent view… The prompt resolution of issues despite limited staff was commendable. However, the bathroom drain problem and the initial delay in assistance were minor inconveniences. My overall positive experience and the quick problem-solving showcased the hotel's potential. My suggestion for improvements in staffing and readiness during arrivals would undoubtedly enhance the quality further. Overall, My stay at Hotel Oga Reach seemed to be enjoyable despite some minor hiccups.
