Needed somewhere to stay for work. Booking in advance was easy and loved the included breakfast and WiFi. Rooms could do with a bit of love, everything looks very old and less than half the lights were working. However, the service from staff and amenities provided made up for the room.

Staff very polite and efficient, restaurant very clean. Two roast beef dinners for £53.00...very disappointing. One had all the ingredients on the menu although was a very small portion. Sadly the other consisted of two slices of beef, 3 roast potatoes, one floret of barely cooked cauliflower ( no cheese sauce) and a yorkshire pudding. The dessert was exceptional. In hindsight I should have had to desserts and no main

Without a doubt one of the best places we have stayed, the staff were very friendly and professional and couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast for me was the best I have ever had in any hotel/Inn. Our main meal at night was excellent, something you would not be able to do yourself at home which speaks volumes for the quality of the cooking ,presentation and service. If i was was being really really nit picking, the bed was a bit hard for our liking and air conditioning would have ben nice, but still looking forward to the next stay.

Excellent Sunday roast, delicious, fresh and quality. Well presented. Decent portions. Menu has good choices, traditional roast and others. Homemade dishes on kids menus too. Bitter and ale on tap. Family friendly. Open fire. Great decor.

Manage your expectations
Great food, friendly staff. Good location. Rooms a good size and everything worked. Decor getting tired and matress totally had it. Fiddly locks. Fair price. Just feels like it needs modern make over. The pub element is great just dont expect to be impressed with the room.

Really comfortable stay with a recently redecorated room inc large bed, dressing table, tv and tea/coffee station. Spacious bathroom with great shower and all was really clean. Easy check in/check out. Great breakfast full English and continental options. Bar/pub and restaurant is traditional but also stylish. Well located for Reading/Basingstoke and surrounding areas with plenty of parking.

We hadn’t been here for about 5 years image our delight when on entering the door to see Ben behind the bar. The food was excellent it was hot delicious and good value for money. Our waiter Andy was very attentive we had a lovely evening. Definitely worth a visit. Lots of parking.

This is the second visit to the new inn heckfield, and as my last visit , I found the staff professional and friendly the rooms to a good size and standard, and the bathroom had been remodel, the food was great and will definitely stay again when in the area
