Fantastic cozy and friendly pub. Great food and good selection of drinks. Made us and Bella our collie feel very much at home . Can’t rate this place enough Thanks

I ordered the rib eye (£27) and asked for it medium rare to medium, even telling the waitress that if the chef tended to overcook, I would prefer it rarer. Unfortunately, the steak I was served was tough, dry, and closer to shoe leather than steak. After politely trying to eat it, I asked a friend to taste, and she agreed it was inedible. When I mentioned this to the waitress, I said I’d be happy with either a replacement or a refund, whichever was easiest for the restaurant. She returned to tell me that the chef disagreed that it was overcooked. Shortly after, the manager came out and started an argument with me over it and then his wife followed shortly after insisting I step outside so she could show me how pink it was, and saying no one ever complains (I can now see these Tripadvisor reviews disagree with that!) Trying to calm the situation, I apologised for apparently offending them, suggested perhaps the cut of meat was the issue, and finally offered to pay half the bill just to end the confrontation. They accepted. I have dined out many times and have never before been reduced to leaving a restaurant in tears. What should have been a straightforward, polite interaction turned into a humiliating and baffling ordeal. Avoid like the plague

We visited the campsite next to this pub and drank here. The Guinness was exceptional and the choice of very good gins was great too. Very well priced. On the second night we ate here and the food was lovely. I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. Would 100% recommend and would come here again.

We visited the pub whilst on holiday. We sat in the 'beer garden', turns out its more like a scuffy back yard, all paved, no grass and a few dead plants. I'm sure it could be made to look a lot better with a bit of a makeover and make it much more enjoyable to sit in. The food was average, service was ok, although no one checked throughout our meal if everything was ok. The pub wasn't very busy at the time.

We has a very unpleasant experience at this pub/restaurant! Booked for 9 of us in advance and asked while on the phone if they did Sunday Roast (as advertised on their website). “Yes we do” was the answer. When we arrived there was no greeting. We found our own way to the table with a reserved sign. Staff were behind the bar and seemed preoccupied bu the restaurant wasn’t busy. A young waitress took our drinks order and having checked the menu and “specials” chalkboard, there was no Sunday Roast visible. We asked if Sunday Roast was available and she said she would ask the kitchen. She didn’t return and another young waitress came to take food order. Again we asked if Sunday Roast was available and again this waitress said she would have to ask the kitchen. On her return she told us “ Yes, there is a roast” but no further information. When she was asked “ what is it?”, she literally huffed and said “ I’ll ask them” and away she went again. Finally, we were told it was pork and then we asked for a few minutes to look at menu again. Two of our drinks arrived and were literally slapped on the table and the waitress said “pass these to whoever ordered them”. This was the final straw. We decided to leave and one of our party spoke to the manager to let him know why we were leaving. Although we never touched the drinks we said we’d pay for the drinks poured and he duly charged us!!! This must be the worst service we have ever experienced. Would never go there again.

We booked a table by phone for 7 in the evening, we arrived ten minutes before. When we entered the restaurant we were told they hadn’t a table available, but gave us the option to sit in the bar or outside. I was a little annoyed but we sat in the bar area and waited for someone to come and take our order. No one came so I proceeded into the restaurant only to see a table had become free and a couple who’d just walked in took it straight away I then realised it was a free for all, booking tables and reserving them wasn’t something this establishment was capable of doing. I asked the restaurant manager what was going off, her attitude was quite rude and aggressive and basically blamed the owners of the establishment for the failures. Absolutely no idea about running a restaurant and I couldn’t tell you what the food was like as we left. I wouldn’t recommend this pub but I may have caught them on a bad day. And there isn’t a pub for miles so they probably know that people will still come whether the reviews are good or not. They did sell Timothy Taylor’s Landlord that was the only positive
