The entrance of the hotel is not very noticeable and the reception is the same as the pub cashier.

Under new management and the hotel owners are friendly and welcoming. Accommodation is basic but spotless and great value for money. Comfy bed, good shower and soft towels. Great value cooked breakfast is available. We will definitely be back.

The staff have only been running it for a few months, but they have done an outstanding job, customer care, friendliness, food/drink options great, breakfast was smashing considering they only started doing these in the last few weeks. Went to great lengths to assist guests, make your stay friendly, nothing was too much bother, they had teething problems with the card machine but found a way round it, went to great lengths to check foods for my multiple allergies by rewashing cutlery/crockery, checking every item was ok for me to eat. Will be staying again, we went to stay there to deal with a bereavement and it made a stressful time so much easier, that we booked again for the day of the funeral. Highly recommend this place and absolutely everyone and dogs are made to feel so welcome

Very friendly and accomodating staff and extremely convenient being right above a pub, the food was great and the room size was perfect. The toilets were really new and clean aswell. The power sockets were also really convenient right next to the bed and there were plenty. The only thing that wouldve made it better is if there was a small fan in the room just for more ventilation.

Had a last minute getaway with the hubby and staff were great, a little confusion as to which room to put us in but the room was clean and modern. Showers not very powerful but my main issue with the room was body wash and shampoo had not been filled, a good job we brought our own. We chose to eat here too and the food was delicious and loads of it which made the price perfect couldn’t complain about any of that. The selection of drinks was good just a little shame the lights weren’t on, on the fridges and they weren’t that cold. We chose to go for a walk on one of the nice walks nearby. The location is great and perfect for walkers and cyclists. Overall very happy with the place and not a million miles away.

Booked the family room for 1 night, excellent reception service from the staff, room and beds were airy and comfortable, bathroom fabulous. The landlords are doing a fab job of bringing this very historic and old pub back to life with live bands, tables with plenty of board games to play and a great atmosphere. Well worth a stay, unfortunately no breakfast available when we stayed but they will be in the near future.

The George Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Rooms were clean, with all you need. Perfect location for walking, or exploring the area. It is in the heart of the pretty village of Hayfield. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I will book again when in the area

Be very aware of the car park information boards at this pub. We stopped there for a drink and did exactly as it said on the board. The paybyphone site has been hacked and trying to download the app or phone is also suspicious. Yesterday I had a charge of £59.99 charged to my account which turned out to be a fictitious company, nothing to do with paying the car park fee. Thankfully my bank stopped the payment but I still had to get the hassle of a new card.

Memories of a pleasant visit were totally destroyed when I received a spurious parking fine in the post 2 weeks later. Photos were taken of my car and allegations were made about invisible parking signs. There was a big, bold sign granting free parking to Customers - as you'd expect at a pub. Are Marston's going to engage the police to prosecute these scammers? How can I safely visit a Marston's pub again if they allow rogue landlords to get away with this. This is reputational damage of the highest order.
