"Wonderful welcome on arrival from all the staff. Lovely little hotel with a real country house feel. Excellent food and just loved the signature G&T with watermelon, couldn't get enough of those! Most outstanding memory was the absolutely fabulous bed linen. Proper linen with hand stitched embroidery, I was tempted to ditch my entire wardrobe in the room and fill the suitcase with all the bedding instead. A very comfortable stay indeed. Thank you."

"The decoration of the hotel is very exquisite, in European aristocratic style. The front desk service was very enthusiastic, and the female manager took the initiative to upgrade me to a sea view room on the second floor. As soon as I entered the room, I saw two whales spraying water on the beach on the balcony. It deserves to be called a whale watching town, with sea view + whale, the scenery is really good."

"This small guesthouse is well placed overlooking the 25th hole of Hermanus Golf Club. Bedroom was spacious with air conditioning and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious made by Jon and served by Moline. Breakfast only served from 8 am but if golfing early a takeaway breakfast pack is provided. The small garden and pool area is lovely for relaxing either in sun or shade. The first floor lounge and balcony overlooking the golf course were a good place for relaxing too. An honesty bar is provided but we did not make use of it."

"Birkenhead House made Hermanus our favorite stop. Staff is warm and on it, three excellent meals a day included, menus change so you never get bored. Our room opened to Walker Bay with insaneeeee views and we watched whales from the patio more than once. The cliff path starts at the gate and it is a long leisurely stroll to town along the water, you can message the hotel to pick you up wherever and whenever you want. Rooms are stylish and comfortable, beds are cloud level, water pressure is legit, nights are just waves. Do the Marine Big 5 tour if it is in season. Easy and beautiful drive from Cape Town. Worth every rand, best time of our lives."

"We stayed at 1 Marine Drove for two nights and could not have been happier with our choice. The welcome was warm and informative - it is rare these days to be shown to your room and all of the amenities available but this was the welcome we received. Secure underground car park, and close to the town - the view is ridiculously beautiful. Breakfast choices were plentiful and the quality of ingredients and cooking superb. We felt very looked after throughout our stay. Everyone is super friendly. We stayed in room 17 which was spacious and clean and again with excellent facilities and complimentary sustainable products. We love the idea of collecting excess water in a bucket for re-use in the garden ! We had no issue with the kettle and coffee machine being outside of the room, it felt like an extension of our space The town and shops and restaurants are about a 10 minute walk away. The coastal path is easily accessible and provides a nice route to walk. We definitely recommend and will return."

"What an experience we had a Whale Rock Lodge. We were greeted with a welcome drink and a very smooth check-in process with a detailed run down of the local area. Staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. The honesty bar is well socked and reasonably proceed. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy and was cleaned each day of our stay. Location wise it is pretty central and just a 3 minute drive from the town centre and 1 minute from the new harbour. There is a real homely feel about the lodge and breakfast each morning was amazing. the selection was excellent and the cooked options were always served as requested and with a smile. My wife and I will definitely be back when we visit South Africa again."
