Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge

In nearly 55 years on this planet, this vacation has been the best I have ever taken and Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge was a large part of making it so successful. The food was great, the staff was friendly and accommodating, our ranger (Sam) and tracker (Richard) brought a perfect combination of knowledge and adventure, and the game drives were epic. We will most certainly return.

8 of us stayed in 4 rondavels for 5 nights in July. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The rondavels were very comfy (great bed) and spacious. The food was sensational. We had a boma each night which was fantastic and enhanced our "Safari" experience. Weather during the day was perfect at that time of year. 5 consecutive days of low to mid 20s with cloudless skies. Probably a bit cool for the pool but lovely lying on the banana lounges looking out to a watering hole. All of the game drives with Hamilton and Enoch were amazing. We actually saw the Big 5 during one afternoon drive!! We also did a walking safari guided by Janco and Chade. This gave a different perspective and was really interesting and gave us some badly needed exercise. I cannot fault any element of our stay at Mohlabetsi. It was a charming lodge set amongst beautiful gardens and trees and lots of birdlife. Thank you to everyone!!

Stayed at Mohlabetsi for 3 days as a solo traveller. The standard of the rooms, the service, the cleanliness and the attentive staff were all first class. A big shout out to Octavian our guide who was both knowledgeable and could explain things so very clearly, be it about food or game. Despite being a solo traveller and one of the few English speakers amongst the guests at the time, I was made welcome. I chose to get up close and personal with nature one morning and to do the walk instead of the game drive - very interesting and worthwhile. I learnt a lot but don't expect to see too much in the way of game on the walk. I was picked up from Hoedspruit airport and it came as a bit of a shock to be told that the shuttle costs were R850 per person each way when I booked. This is pricey but the lodge can charge what it thinks fit; my concern is that there should have been more transparency about these costs on the website, which we travellers use to budget for trips etc. Otherwise a very professional operation..

Over all a wonderful lodge. The housing was very cozy and neat, the room very good, the service was very personal, the food was very tasty, even with our dieet, namely vegetarian and gluten free, the safari cars were very good with water and blankets, and the guides did there very best: everything had a very good quility.

Everybody was very friendly and welcoming. We could relax very well here. It was my husband´s birthday there and they surprisingly sang and danced at breakfast. It was breathtaking. At every game drive Tour with Lucky we saw new animals. We would definitely recommend Mohlabetsi to others. The lodges are very lovingly furnished. The dinner at the fireplace was a highlight everytime.

Had a fantastic stay (including providing an unforgettable birthday experience) … such a tranquil place providing outstanding service in the middle of a Safari savannah. The Safari drives were incredible with everyone delivering different memories. Big shout out to our driver/guide Hamilton and Enoch who ensured we had the best experience possible and delivered the big 5 to us almost right to the car haha ! All in all 5 star !
