Great room in a historic inn in the middle of Hoggsback. Service was virtually nonexistent, and the food was disappointing.

Beautiful gardens-rooms need attention If they put half as much into the rooms as they do the garden it would be wonderful. The room is dark, the bed is cardboard and the carpet is historic circa 1970. It needs some freshening.

I love this Inn, really friendly management and staff with fires burning in all the gathering areas to add that moutain inn ambience and to stave off the ‘8 months of winter and the remaining 4 months of extreme winter’ as equally lamented at and boasted of by the locals😜. I Loved the breakfasts and suppers. A charming and historic place to stay in a most magical destination. One of my favourites ❤️😎 the River-side suites particularly charming as these have their own fireplaces👍🏼

Enjoyed early drinks in the pub, lovely atmosphere. Barman specially lit the fire for us. We went back for dinner. The food was great, (small menu) the staff super friendly. Warm and cosy pub on a very miserable rainy day. Next time we visit Hogsback we will definitely stay at the Inn.

This establishment needs to be upgraded. Not what we expected at all. They advertise they have a generator for Loadshedding which didn't work. It kept tripping. But reception and bar and restuarant had electricity. The staff very friendly and efficient. A charge for a gas heater extra. Restuarant food was delicious but took 2 hours to be served.

We have been here before and always liked it, but we realized Hotel has deteriorated in the years, near our bathroom ceiling the trap door completely open, all the cold air came in, and its cold, the room is lovely but everything needs a change an old tv you can hardly see the screen, the bathrooms has a rusted mirror and bath is rusted where the knobs are. It would of been nice to have some heating in the room instead of only the fire place, for the price we paid they should of at least offered us breakfast! Cannot mention staff we haven't met any apart a few ladies at the bar! Hopefully a bit of upgrade and the Inn will be great again

Had a dinner in the pub, warm, cosy. Very friendly staff, not a big menu but variety of awesome tasting meals, a lot homemade and was reasonably priced. Very relaxed atmosphere, not to much of a rush. They Camembert starter and lamb pie, to die for.

We stayed a few nights in Hogsback, at #HogrockFalls. On the Monday we drove around looking for a place to lunch. Pity we did not know most of the places were closed on Mondays. We ended up at thee Historic Hogsback Inn. It took me back to the British stories I watch on tv. It looked the same! So many lovely bog old leafy trees! It felt so welcoming, all I wanted was a blanket to go lie on the grass, which they would have given me if I had only asked, I'm sure of it. It wes loafshedding at the time, but they were still able to accommodate us. Service was a bit slow, but we WERE on holiday and in a very peaceful town, where time should not be an issue! The service might have been slow, but it was very friendly!!! You will not make a mistake by visiting The Historic Hogsbaack Inn.

We stayed at this hotel 50 years ago for our honeymoon and decided to do the same trip again. We specifically wanted to stay again at this lovely Inn. We stayed in River Suite 1, Grande Elm Suite. What lovely spacious rooms. We had a beautiful bathroom, an old vintage bath, shower big enough for two people, own sitting room with a fire place, lovely big room and an extra large bed. Our patio was secluded with a view of the river and you could listen to the flow of the water...I could sit there all day! The gardens are lovely and there is a big pool, though we just went for walks. The staff made us feel very welcome and even surprised us with champagne, flowers and Belgian chocolates made in Hogsback (we went to get more!). The food at the hotel was lovely. The hotel is centrally located and yet part of a lovely big garden and flowing river.
