Wow don’t hesitate to eat here I moved from Chesterfield 10yrs ago and return periodically to see family and friends. I needed to eat out and just fancied some up market food that was a bit more than burgers etc. I remembered The Bulls Head at Holymoorside so i gave it a go. I was pleasantly surprised to find out there was bar food, al a carte or tasting menu. I had the tasting menu, i think i picked the 5 course which was actually 6 including canapés( theres was a choice of adding further courses) What an amazing food taste sensation i had. I was blown away. You folk in Derbyshire are very lucky to have somewhere to eat with such a talented chef and team. How can someone elevate rice pudding to the glamorous level he did. ❤️❤️❤️ I will be back for sure.

Visited with my family for a pre-Christmas meal. Fabulous food - we tried the tasting menu. Lovely atmosphere and terrific staff - particularly impressed by our young waiting team. Highly recommend and will look forward to visiting again

Great dining and beautiful accommodation.
Lovely, cosy pub hotel. Great food with a choice of menus, ranging from the tasting menu to simple (but very well done) pub fayre. We chose from the pub menu, special mention to the fish and chips, perfect! Accompanied by a good choice of drinks, with beer from the local Thornbridge brewery. Very handy spot for local attractions. We stayed for one night on a mini-break and the room was perfect. Lovely bedroom decoration, nicely fitted out bathroom with a decent sized bath and rainfall shower and a very comfy bed. Tea annd coffee making facilities provided along with chilled fresh milk. All super clean. Great breakfast too, toast or pastry stater with a good range of breakfast mains option. We had the FEB, black pudding was just perfect to soak up the previous nights ale..
Has its own free car parking too.

Over priced
This is not a 5 star establishment, food was ok, lock on door didnt work but fixed after mentioning, carrying your luggage through the public indoor and outdoor bar, not suitable accommodation for disabled. For the money we paid is no way justified, you're not even asked how you want your eggs cooked for breakfast!

Sleep better here than at home.
This is our 2nd trip to this fabulous pub/hotel I always sleep so well here. We eat in the Restaurant and go with The Chefs Menu as we love Marks' food choice. Highlight dish of this trip was the Halibut.

Gorgeous pub tucked away in a lovely village. The food is really something special and much needed in the area for a different night out. We had the a la carte option. The Ham Egg starter is lovely and the venison with celeriac puree was delicious albeit the sauce was a little sweet for me but it went well with the dish. The canapés are stunning and the sour dough bread with marmite butter starts the meal off perfectly. Really worth a visit. We’ve been twice and enjoyed both visits. Next trip booked for December.

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary here by having the 5 course tasting menu. Everything was delicious. All the different ingredients for the courses were explained to us by the very helpful staff, especially by Tom who was particularly knowledgeable. Couldn't fault the service. It is a little pricey - my husband had a glass of wine at £13 - but the food and drink are excellent and of the highest quality, so for a celebration once a year, it's nice to treat yourself !!

We booked in for our anniversary and ordered the five course taster menu, having the dessert made table side by the head chef was a fantastic experience. Also they gave us a anniversary card which was so thoughtful. Every course was fantastic and we were so full at the end. All the staff were 10/10

Really enjoyed the rustic feel to the place. Bed comfy, bath was a nice touch and the room was very homely. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was nice but didn’t like the ‘gammon’ style bacon and tomato chutney instead of a proper tomato. Would 100% recommend.
