Ferries connect toMartha’s Vinyard and Block Island daily from Quonset Point just down the road, or from PointJudith and the port of Galilee.On the opposite shore of Our small peninsula is the neighborhood boat ramp that AccessesWickford harbor and Mill Cove. With some quick research you may pick up a guest mooring orslip at one of the many Wharfs or Marinas that are also the Mariners gateway to the historicvillage.Our house is located a few minutes walk from the ramp where you can come ashore from thewell protected mooring field. We have our own family history here as well. This is where welearned to sail, swim and experience all the greatness of this area. Our Dad, Joseph did thesame as a boy who then became a sailing Captain of the sea. Years ago he recognized the“perfect place to live” from his boat. He rowed to the ramp, walked up the street and thendiscovered a corner home with a little garage in the back. Dad always loved things that“needed a little work” so 122 Sauga became his new home ashore. The garage has alwaysbeen referred to as “Snorks Place”. Named so by the painted words over the door of thesoon-to-be workshop that always needed work of its own. Dad rebuilt the house and afterthat, replaced the work shack with a top floor apartment. The apartment is still named SnorksPlace or just Snorks as our family and friends refer to it.Dad built Snorks as a cozy and bright get away nest with the feel of a ships cabin with woodfloors and galley kitchenette. A Murphy Bed allows for the enlargement of floor space whenneeded as well as the Head (small bathroom). and lots of windows for great natural light. manyof these features always remind us of the boats we grew up sailing.Our Pop loved to share the amazing experiences of land and sea to all those who adventuredas well as educating and guiding those who would become Adventurers.Dad would say “Welcome aboard”! Cora's Cottage was built by my husband, Kenny's grandfather Harry and is named for Harry's wife, Cora. We love this sweet cottage, it is so warm and welcoming - your home-away-from-home. A large eat-in kitchen provides a bright space for preparing meals, playing board games or planning your day. The portable dishwasher will make clean-ups easy! And to smooth wrinkles in your traveling clothes there is a full-sized ironing board and steam iron provided for your use. Two coffee makers (one Mr. Coffee and one single-cup brewer), blender and microwave are provided. A grill is available for outdoor bar-b-ques. A screened front porch makes a great place to enjoy your morning coffee or a bug-free respite on a nice evening. Parking for your car on the premises or just a short walk to the bus stop for transportation to the beaches or the capital city and all points in-between! Historic Wickford and East Greenwich are within minutes for great dining and shopping. Or if you want to take a little longer trip, the "Fast Ferry" to Martha's Vineyard is close by and historic Newport is within a half-hour drive for fabulous dining, scenery and tours of the Gilded Age Mansions! Our capital city, Providence offers terrific night life with "Water Fire", museums, theater and great restaurants! If your stay is work related, the second bedroom can serve as an office, with a writing desk, wifi and printer provided. Cora's Cottage is a non-smoking property.The house sleeps up to four (4) people. The main bedroom is spacious with a queen bed and windows for light and fresh air. The second bedroom sleeps two with a day-bed that can be configured as two twins or joined together to make a "king" bed for a couple. The cottage is sunny and bright with lots of windows. Room-darkening blinds are provided on all the windows. A large air conditioner cools the whole house quite well, but a smaller window air conditioner is provided in the main bedroom as well to assure your comfort.There is a large, sunny back yard that includes a large vegetable garden. The flowering plants and the vegetable garden are maintained by the owners who live on the adjacent property. If we have a good growing season, a wonderful Rhode Island tomato may be in your future! We look forward to your arrival!We know many people like to travel with their pets. Cora's Cottage is dog-friendly for dogs up to 40 pounds. For your pet's safety, and to help maintain the property we do require that pets be crated if owners will be leaving them alone for any length of time. We provide the crate and/or a playpen and a comfy bed. We have a designated "Potty" area and provide waste bags for cleanup.
