This is the worst place we’ve ever booked. The old man behaved terribly and his attitude traumatized us. We deeply regret booking this place. The room was too small and had no ventilation or windows. The air conditioner was filthy. The linens were itchy and smelled foul; the pillows smelled as if they had never been washed — I almost vomited when I smelled them. We felt so itchy, but we arrived at the hostel at 1:00 a.m. and had no choice but to stay.
One of the worst things that happened was when the old man cursed at us and shouted after I asked an important question about the room. We felt unsafe because of the owner’s hostile behavior. He also charged us an extra HKD 150 in addition to the HKD 100 deposit, even though we had already paid online by credit card. We felt like we were scammed.
Additionally, the owner acted like a manipulator and made us feel as if we were the problem. He tried to gaslight us and behaved in a narcissistic, it dismissive way — he would not accept side comments, became angry whenever we asked questions, and refused to listen. His hostile, uncooperative behavior made us feel intimidated and unsafe.
We emailed Trip.com about this matter and requested a refund since we used only one night of a five-night stay. Unfortunately, they could not help because of their terms and conditions. However, I believe this is an exceptional case: the property did not provide the amenities listed, and they gave us a completely different room from the one we booked.
Please, Trip.com, do something about this matter. We trust your business, but it seems you are not protecting customers from this kind of shady behavior. Thank you.
