Absolutely horrendous experience. However we did laugh after the event and felt sorry for anyone who was intending to go on Saturday 30th September. We parked up with the intention of having a nice dog walk with our friends from London and a stop at the pub afterwards for drinks. As we were leaving for our walk, the landlady flung open an upstairs window and screamed at us whether she could help us. We explained that we were going on a family dog walk and planned to pop for drinks afterwards. She screamed that the pub was shut and opened at 5pm. We told her that was fine and we'd see her later. She was very rude. On reflection, we would never ever spend our hard earned money with someone who was so rude and unfriendly. What a way to push customers away! Such a shame for them as we spend a lot of money when we go out! The Fox in Rudgwick were much more accommodating and we would definitely recommend here for hospitality. See my review for there. The Mucky Duck is now closed for good. I wonder why??

Nice comfortable room! Booking was straightforward and a nice welcome when we arrived. Dinner menu was extensive and the curry and Chinese style duck my wife and I had was very good and filling, compliments to the chef! Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Roger was very helpful !

I chose this place because it was near to Joust, a medieval festival a few miles away. The Inn is in the country, quite a way from the nearest a towns. It's quite picaresque, the outbuildings where you stay are in keeping with the local architectural styles. The rooms are very impressive. Mine had a comfortable armchair and a two seat sofa, there was the usual TV (which I didn't use), a kettle, tea making supplies and things like a hairdryer. The room was decorated in a creamy gold, it looked nice. The bathroom had a bit of a high step over the rim of the bath to use the shower, the shower itself was warm and powerful. There's the usual selection of shower gels and soap. The bedroom window had a catch so you can leave it open without worrying about people getting in. There was a fan if you needed it. I've rarely had a room so well-equipped and so comfortable. I had an evening meal in the restaurant. It's pub-grub, a nice selection but I thought it was a bit lack-lustre if you're vegetarian. It might have been me, I'd ridden six and a half hours to get there and was tired. I chose cauliflower cheese and chips, it was nice but it felt like they had missed out the protein. It would have been better with a couple of veggie sausages. Their cheese board was rather good, you get a choice of 3 cheeses. It was fairly inexpensive too. Bed and breakfast cost £110 for one night. Breakfast was included. Their vegetarian breakfast is great, you can have cereals, there's orange juice and coffee and cooked breakfast with toast. Their vegetarian sausage was really good, very tasty. It's a nice part of he world, if you have a reason to visit, you'll find the staff friendly and the rooms are excellent.

We have recently moved to Rudgwick but have been visiting the area for a number of years and The Mucky Duck is one of our favourite pubs. Whenever we have visited it’s always been busy but, as with lots of pubs in the current climate, it was really quiet. Roger, the landlord, was friendly, chatty and welcoming and the adorable pub dogs were well behaved and sociable. The pub itself is obviously well looked after and the ladies toilets were absolutely spotless. My husband had a pint of Bishops Finger and said the beer was kept very well. I had a a really clean and refreshing pint of cider. We sat near the the open fire which was really cosy. I had a delicious vegetarian lasagne with fries and salad and my husband had the mixed grill, which was huge, and he said it was absolutely perfect. We’re looking forward to making this our local.

Went out to meet a mate for beer and a meal on 7th Feb at 7.30pm. The pub is lovely old 300 year old pub. The food is all beautifully cooked .We had the Burger , and Cottge Pie, which was sublime ! ....as was the Apple Pie with cream afterwards. They serve the locally brewed Firebird IPA called Parody (Brewery is 2 miles from the pub) , which is probably the best hazy ale going (apart from Firebirds other Ale, Work Ethic, which is a perfect Hazy IPA), and London Pride amongst others, and my mate had a lovely Veltins Lager - All beers beutifully kept BTW ! I drove 30 miles to this pub, and it did not disappoint !- I'm getting back here ASAP, and I suggest you do the same, before everyone finds out how good this pub is ! :) Good-sized car park onsite, plus they also have a B&B (4 Star) Great service, Great people, Cozy, Nice atmosphere. Will be back VERY soon.

Nice room, with everything you need - really well thought out and cosy. The pub has delicious food each night. Best steak I've had in ages. Comfortable, locals vibe, felt welcome and well looked after. Breakfast great. Check in and out super easy. Plenty of parking, easy to find... Looked like a lovely area as well. Definitely recommend it!
