The Westin Huntsville

Great location. Didn’t have to drive anything all weekend. Hotel needs some remodeling but nothing that caused me to want to give a bad review or felt like I didn’t get my money worth.

The building is beautiful, of course, because it’s a Westin. The room is big and clean. However, the bathroom, particularly the shower, is lacking a lot of features that I can get at lower level Marriott properties. * The water pressure isn’t good in the rain shower head. * There’s only one tiny ledge in the shower to out your shower products on, which doesn’t work for two people. Even though they provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash gel, some people like to bring their own, and some people bring razors and shaving cream. We need storage space in the shower. * There’s nothing for a foot ledge, for shaving legs. And when you put your foot on the shower wall to shave, there’s no bar to hold onto except the shower door handle, which pushes the door open if you push at all. * When I got out of the shower, there was a big puddle on the floor outside one end of the shower. Ugh. That’s what I’d expect at a place with a too-short shower curtain, not a glassed in shower, and certainly not at a Westin. * There’s only a towel bar on one side of the sink. For two people, who each take one side of the sink for their things, there needs to be a towel bar on both sides. There’s overall not enough accommodation for two people in this bathroom, even though it’s big. There’s a lot of wasted space that could be made more useful. I don’t care how trendy it looks if it’s not functional. * Our room had a connecting door to another room. The connecting door had a huge gap at the bottom, I.e. didn’t go all the way to the floor. The people in the connecting room came in late and were talking so loud it woke us up, and it was like they were in the room with us. There’s zero sound control between rooms, at least if it’s connecting rooms. Thank goodness it wasn’t a couple getting things on, but was still super annoying. * My husband said the little cafe in the hotel was insufficient.
