Tried to make a booking through *********** but it said that check in had to be before 9pm. Our flight into Hobart didn't land till 9:30pm. So instead I called House on the Hill and spoke to Paul to see if it would still be possible to book a night. He was agreeable and said we would be able to check in around 11pm. He took the booking over the phone. When we arrived into Hobart and had our rental car, I called Paul around 10pm and got the voicemailbox. Left a message saying we were on our way and to call me back to confirm, which he didn't. When we arrived at 11pm, the place was dark. We knocked on doors, rang a doorbell, but nobody answered. I called the number for Paul several times but got voicemail every time. Tired and frustrated, and with nowhere else to book in Huonville at that time of night, we had to drive back to Hobart and get a room there, which was way more expensive. It was not a good introduction to Tasmania on our first visit there. I tried calling Paul over several days to find out what had happened but he would never pick up the phone. Finally almost a week later he did pick up and said that he had fallen asleep and apologized. That is fine... It happens to the best of us, but the fact that he never followed up the next day to apologize or offer us another night as compensation speaks volumes. I just want people on this forum to know that this could happen to you. I'm sure the place is lovely, but we'll never know!
