Amazing place

Hwange Safari Lodge is a classic safari destination that has recently been refurbuished. The location is excellent, the rooms lovely and the staff friendly and professional. It is a beautiful spot and well worth a visit

Our stay at this hotel was really great. The rooms are recently refurbished and are state of the art now. You have a great view over the gardens and the water hole. First we got a room next to a noisy generator, but we got a more quiet one after we mentioned this to the reception. A Solar park might be a solution for this hotel. Diner was good, but it took one evening 45 minutes to prepare. Breakfast is for a hotel of this ‘class’ substandard. It looked more like a breakfast at an American highway motel than to a breakfast for a top class hotel. I understand of course that the supply chain is complex in this context.

So well designed you can see the grounds from all the spaces and rooms in the lodge including the reception and the gym. So many animals come to the grounds that there’s a 24/7 animal cam. Great food and staff. Comfortable room.

Having read lots of reviews before booking we didn’t know whether to expect a run down lodge in a great location or part lodge part building site due to renovations. Well I can say we had a wonderful stay, the whole lodge looked tip top and our rooms were clean, modern and the beds so comfortable. The food was excellent and the chef so helpful adapting the menu for our son who has a dairy allergy. The a la carte menu is excellent value and the meals delicious. We didn’t have the dinner buffet. The pork chops deserve a special mention, we loved them. The portion sizes are also very generous. Cappuccinos at breakfast were the best coffee I had the entire trip, with little touches like my name written in chocolate powder on top. Don’t hesitate to book here. You’ll spend afternoons and evenings sitting with drinks watching herds of elephant and zebra and other wildlife come drink at the watering hole and frankly it’s worth staying there for that alone. Spent 15 mins with a herd of elephants not more than 10m away. But you have the added bonus of a beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff and amazing food all very reasonably priced. Best value stay of our trip and would recommend it to anyone. Blessing was our guide for our game drive and we were grateful that his skills allowed us to see Lions even though they were so well camouflaged. . We got so close and it was an incredible moment. I’m quite a difficult person to impress, but Hwange Safari Lodge was impressive and you won’t regret staying there. Service would have got 5/5 if the booking process and responsiveness to questions pre arrival had been better. The service at the hotel itself once we arrived was excellent.
