The larger than usual windows (for an old crofter’s cottage) in the lounge and the kitchen allow great views of the mountains of Assynt from the kitchen dining area or the easy chairs/sofa in the lounge.In between the cottage and the hill opposite is Alltan na Fithriach which is a pretty burn stream leading to Raffin Beach and was the site of an old corn mill in the 19th century. Of course, there is no milling done there now but the beach is a wonderfully quiet and unfrequented place to gaze across the sea to the mountains and look out for wildlife. There are regular sightings of basking sharks, otters and whales from this spot during the summer months.
